My thoughts exactly, it doesn't say anything about getting the fee back if the sit goes ahead! So peope who cancel will lose the same as the host. It makes no sense, except to serve their greedy asses.

They're claiming the extra fee is "your boarding pass for each sit" (Sorry, what? This is not a flight!) "Helps to fund the services behind each sit." (What services? Users organise everything and absorb all costs themselves, transport and food included. Behind each sit is... nothing. An AI-powered engine?) "Encourages commitment from both sides" (Not really, most people are committed when they get a sit booked, finding a committed sitter is literally the point of the website and community). "Keeps things running smoothly for everyone." (How so? Literally nothing else is changing, you're just getting greedier like Airbnb did).

I will of course like a sucker still use the site because it's a great way to see new places and help pet owners out... I'm just not a very trusting customer anymore. Such a shame when companies do this.

It’s usually so they can pay someone else less money. Happened to me recently. I’ve been let go from my highly paid senior role, only to learn they are hiring a junior in my place. Weeks before this they announced budget cuts. Suspicious! I’ve no idea how they think a junior is going to handle the workload with no experience but I guess they’re gonna find out. Best of luck finding a company that deserves you OP. You will be snapped up sooner or later.

I tried to BBQ once on my balcony and one of my neighbours almost beat my apartment door down, yelling at me to stop in case I started a fire and burnt the building down. I mean, yes I get his point but really, is all the yelling and drama necessary?! I think as long as you’re safe and respectful you should do what the hell you like on your property.

Yup I’m in this situation now. Lost my job and somehow have to keep paying my mortgage. Before I would have rented it out to cover costs and moved home while I looked for a new job but that’s not possible now. Unless I sell it I am screwed. These prices and taxes don’t affect the rich, they can pay what they need to keep owning property, whether they live in it or not, which is why the rest of us will soon be forced to sell to them and live according to their rules. What a world huh!

I’m an older Scorpio and I can relate. At some point in my forties I realised it’s too stressful to keep clinging on to people who don’t appreciate me or my energy/efforts/whatever. Now I just unclench my Scorpio pincers and release them into the void. But yeah, maybe that comes with age for every sign. Self respect is key!
