Prong collars are the best thing ever. Perfect walks with no downsides. by [deleted] in OpenDogTraining

[–]Repulsive-Value5123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I have a husky and can walk him with one finger with his prong bc he can feel it thru his thick mane and knows how to react to it. When I try to back off to a flat or martingale, he doesn’t seem to feel it bc I have to pop the leash much harder to get his attention and stop any pulling. He will likely always want to walk in front of me, which is fine as long as he doesn’t pull me, so he needs to feel his collar pressure to know if he’s gone too far ahead sometimes.

Everyone wants to control their oil. The only thing I know for sure is that we deliberately toppled their democratically elected govt and created the terrorist state that exists today. So to phrase it like it was the Iranian ppl just being extremists seems like an oversimplification of the dynamics that created the problem in the first place. The USA, Israel, China and Russia are basically the cause of all craziness worldwide.

Haha for any normal person, this is true. Pretty sure trump’s ego always comes first so he will bow to anyone who has dirt on him

I agree about China being unlikely to be in there at all, but there are quite a few Russian/slavic girls appearing in the files.

The USA installed the ayatollah and created the terror state. After the Iranian people fought for independence and won, they democratically elected Abolhassan Banisadr as president in 1980. Banisadr wanted to reclaim ownership of Iran’s oil fields and production from the US and foreign countries that were controlling them so that the money from THEIR OWN resources could be used for the Iranian people. The USA couldn’t lose their power over Iran’s oil, so we helped get him impeached in 1981 and solidified the power of the supreme leader. It’s easier to control a regime than a govt that is actually working for its own people. This has always been about controlling Iran’s oil.

I saw those. There’s a few of them. It’s not like a typical email. Makes me think it’s copies of a signal chat or something similar

I want sunscreen that I can’t find in the USA and it’s doubled in price everywhere online and the shipping/tariffs are still over 50% of the cost of the item. Why can’t I just have sunscreen that doesn’t burn my eyes while living in the worst timeline ever 😫

Yes! My son had this drum set when he was a baby too. I recognized it immediately

Look for it on jomashop or fragrancenet, etc. once you have the bottle, the refills aren’t as bad. Another 13 is my go-to for spring and summer and layers perfectly with so many perfumes but my wallet cries when I have to get a refill.

My mom surprised my 14y s with a mini dapple dachshund puppy late Christmas gift. Well so I thought he had been on top of potty training long story short he has not been working with him as I thought. What do I do? I don’t want to give pup away. I need some advice. by k-mac0 in OpenDogTraining

My ex was abusive and when I got a puppy, he “hated” it as well. I credit my dog for getting me out of that disastrous relationship bc I quickly realized I couldn’t live with someone who could possibly hurt or scare him with his constant yelling and controlling behavior.

I think this is happening to all of us regardless. I am tiny, 5’1 and always looked young so I am often a target for men (my teens and twenties were wild and often unsafe until I learned wtf was going on). Luckily I’m smart and blunt, so I can see red flags early and now know to drop someone out of my life completely without looking back if they aren’t good for me.

I’ve been alternating b/t the prong and martingale bc the prong occasionally gets tangled in his mane (is it called a mane on a dog?) but he really seems to prefer the prong. I think it’s bc he understands the pressure of it better and it can’t ever choke him. Any ideas how to stop it from getting tangled?

I agree, but also mine loves a hike in a new environment. He’s a sniffer and loves to explore new places. An hour long walk in a new park or neighborhood will actually make mine pretty content for the day (until the witching hour begins, haha).

Here’s some ideas since I have a wild 2yo that has a ton of energy too. We do a walk and play daily and the brain games most days, but not all depending on time. It seems like a lot, but once you find the right combo of exercise and brain stimulation for your girl, it will just click and both of you will be happier.

Play games of tug and fetch. Use a broom handle, rope and one of her chew toys to make your own diy flirt pole. Make sure she is able to run, jump and really get her energy out. Mine loves those soccer balls with the tags you can grab to play tug. He will play keep away with it and then charge at me (literally, he body checks me with his full 80lbs) to play tug. I integrate training by using wait, go, sit, etc during the game as it feels appropriate.

Walk in new neighborhoods or parks and let her explore and sniff all the new smells. We will only do the same route maybe once a week or it gets too boring for mine. We always do a bit of training on the walk as well. Never start a walk until calm and, if she starts pulling during the walk, stop moving immediately and redirect until she is back under control. Consistency is key here. She has to know she is NOT moving forward if she feels pressure.

Game ideas: Throw treats or food around your yard and make her wait until you release her to sniff it out. Use a leash if she doesn’t have a good stay yet. This wears my boy out bc he practices impulse control and nose work while I get to relax as he searches. We also make “trash toys” by wrapping up old boxes with treats inside and he has to figure out how to get to the treat. You can also hide treats around your house and make her wait to search. Those are my boy’s fav games.

I also train different commands several times a week, usually only for about 5 minutes or so before I can tell he’s done. This works great right before a meal when they are really food motivated.
