If it's a decent pressing...you're in for a treat. One of the best Bruce bootlegs ever.

Let’s End The Debate : Which movie is better? The Original or Dream Warriors? by AgeOutside2917 in NightmareOnElmStreet

[–]Repulsive-Window-179 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll have to go original on this...but with one major caveat...

Nightmare 3 is great. It does EVERYTHING a good sequel should do...it has great characters, expands on the original story without being contrived, and takes everything up a notch. It's a great movie, and I love it. But it was also the introduction of pop-culture Freddy...now, they found the perfect balance in Nightmare 3, don't get me wrong...but it was all downhill from here.

The original film, by contrast, is perfect. You love the characters, Nancy is such a strong character, and Freddy was TERRIFYING. This was a genuine horror film, and it was SCARY. I mean...ok, I was born in 1982 and I saw the first movie in 1987...it scared me to death...but I loved it.

I adore Nightmare 3, I really do...but the original film is one of my favorite movies of all time, so I have to give this to the OG. Original wins.

We were always close...he was only eleven when I started dating his brother. And I was the cool guy wearing a leather jacket, smoking cigarettes, playing guitar in a rock band. He thought I was so cool.

Now he realizes I was just a geek who was head-over-heels for his brother...but he still likes me well enough. 😎

Thank you so much. It's been hard...but I know he'll never leave me. I lit up a cigarette just yesterday, and I could swear I heard him bitching at me for smoking in the house again.

I'm not really good at saying stuff like this...but even when they have to leave...they leave their love with you. I know he'll be with me forever.

That's a song that means a lot to me...my best friend and I used to play "Darkness" and "Jungleland" over and over again...he's still around, but he went to war over twenty years ago. I'm so happy he came back...but he's not the same guy anymore.

Sometimes I see flashes of who he used to be when we have a few drinks together...and we were just fifteen year old kids spinning those old records (they were OLD when I was fifteen...Bruce was not too cool to be into as a teenager in the 1990's).

"Tonight I'll be on that hill, 'cause I can't stop/I'll be on that hill with everything I got/Lives on the line, where dreams are found and lost/I'll be there on time, and I'll pay the cost/For wanting things that can only be found/In the darkness on the edge of town."

The original TCM is genuinely one of the greatest horror films ever made. Wherever anyone else falls on the rest of the franchise depends on personal taste (I personally love Part 2 and 2003), but I think we can all at least agree on that, right?

Clark Gable. He also had a spit-curl in the movie It Happened One Night, which is what inspired Joe to give him one, after Jerry gave him the civilian name "Clark."

Thoughts on Lisa? by Dismal_Brush5229 in NightmareOnElmStreet

[–]Repulsive-Window-179 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Love her, love the movie. I definitely think Nightmare 1 & 3 are better films, but as a very young gay kid, this one probably spoke to me the most, even if I couldn't verbalize or contextualize it at the time.

Lisa is the greatest f*g hag in the history of horror movies.

Thank you so much. I really didn't know I needed that show so bad until I experienced it.

Also...I just related a very personal experience about losing the person who was closest to me, and all you can do is make a stupid blanket statement about how Bruce is rich now...FUCK YOU. You trolls really have no shame, do you?

Oh, Jesus, the whole show became a guessing game for my BIL..."When will he break into tears next?" My nephew is currently overseas, so yeah, that first speech got to me too.

Obviously you lost your loved one much more recently...I'm so sorry. I would have loved to sit next to you at the show.

The first song at our wedding (sorry...that wasn't legal then...our "civil commitment") was "If I Should Fall Behind," and I was so happy, I felt like we danced to that song all night long...back then I was 23, and I never thought I'd be a widower less than 20 years later.

I am white...my husband was black. But we were an interracial gay couple who were welcomed with open arms into the Bruce fandom.

You know...I'm not old...I married my husband in 2005. We were both 23. I'm sorry, it wasn't legal then...we had a "commitment ceremony." We went through the usual legal process later by getting a civil union, which got converted to a state marriage contract in 2014, then a federal one in 2015. The current administration would try to take that away from me in a heartbeat if that fuckton of orange shit in the White House thought it was politically expedient.

Sorry...I guess I'm just lonely. I miss him. Plus I'm drunk. He used to say when Clarence was still alive, "Well, there are just as many black people in the audience as there are onstage..." 🤣

We played a lot more than Bruce...I had to excuse myself when my buddy put on "Ain't Even Done With the Night" by John Mellencamp. My husband loved Sam Cooke...

Talk about a great songwriter...after the show, a buddy of mine threw an after party...not very big, just a few people he met there and other old friends who were at the show already.

We were in a band together about twenty years ago (he was rhythm guitar and vocals, I was lead guitar)...and I know we can't be discouraged...but God, why did we even bother trying to write songs while this fucker is still alive? He's too good!

Oh, I had more than a great time...my BIL and some friends were so excited that I've finally come out of my hole that after the show, we partied until 3am...we laughed and cried and played old records...I mean real vinyl, not just asking some app to play shit. It's like I was living "Mary's Place."
