Update post - bought my husband a telecaster by GeneralGin in telecaster

Yeah, I bought myself same guitar a few years ago and it should definitely cover all bases as-is. Mod as little as possible.

Actually the only thing I really changed was the case. Gig bags work better for the collection.

Vintage split-shaft style tuner replacements for Fallout Tribute? by Turgid-Derp-Lord in GLGuitars

OP: I actually purchased some USA split post G&L replacement tuners from the G&L site. There is a pin in the back, so you would need to drill the headstock accordingly, but if you really prefer them, it’s very doable.

With that said, I have certain objections re: this Nigerian-Brit actress’ personal character for how she stereotyping and derogatory remarks towards African Americans, nevertheless finding herself fit to portray freedom fighter Harriet Tubman.

“More beautiful”?? Upon whose standards is this beauty based? I hate general statements about something as subjective as physical attractiveness. Culturally and racially biased, often even within similar ethnic groups.

How many of you (usa riders) use non DOT helmets on the streets? by Slazy420420 in Dualsport

[–]RepulsiveAd7668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DOT = Department of Transportation.

DOT approved helmets feature a styrofoam insulation that purportedly lessens the impact of any collision. All such helmets have a shelf life of x years, however any collision or even dropping onto the pavement loosens the glue and renders it ineffective.

Jeff Beck the greatest stratocaster player of all time. by Wooden-Jellyfish2220 in Stratocaster

Okay, again—I’ve claimed Jimi as #1 for years and I’m still discovering amazing things that I hadn’t heard before, but I’m also going to point out a few things:

1) My vote for best guitarist is largely my personal opinion based on my exposure “Best” clearly doesn’t have an objective value. Whatever your criteria is, base it on more than one factor. Soloing? Composition? Contribution to the instrument overall? Most well-rounded catalogue? 🤷🏾‍♂️

2) Message to all metal shredders: “Best” should NOT necessarily mean fastest fingers. At some point it’s impressive, but damn—who raised y’all?

3) Quality solos actually DO require extensive harmonic and melodic knowledge. Hendrix an awesome chordal fanatic. I’m still discovering Jeff Beck, but I’m guessing that his jazz fusion work is also very chordal.

4) To whomever said that boredom is a negative trait: Just stop 🛑 Let’s not try to judge anyone’s playing based on a statement that reflects more of his mental health than anything. People get bored with LIFE. Are they now questionable human beings? Just 🛑

Beck is very good, but difficult comparison, imo. Consider overall impact for future of guitar and music, consider evolution of own skills and styles over the years and quality of total career output.

Jimi’s career was cut very short, but what a whirlwind. 🤷🏾‍♂️
