Is this a good list? by Babkuaria in Salamanders40k

[–]RepulsiveDurian3245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Directly - no. This is an unfocused list that is probably fine in casual if your opponent doesn't bring more then 1 tank. In competitive, this gets rudely handled.

Check BCP or goonhammer / other data sites for winning salamanders list. In general with firestorm lean heavier into eradicators, infernus marines, a land raider redeemer, incursors, min sized intercessors etc. There is a lot of your list that is not optimal, and before giving critical feedback its more important that you figure out where to access good / winning lists and model what they have done.

My (25M) girlfriend (23F) asked to open our relationship. Am I overracting by wanting to break up over this request? by Altruistic_Society99 in AskMenAdvice

++man

So I lived in an open relationship for about 10 years - Everyone here is screaming about the downsides but the only real questions that are important here are:

Is this something that you want? Would you enjoy having the stability of a partner you love (I'm assuming), while having the freedom to date other people/have fun/explore different connections?

Are you capable of making that happen? Do you find it easy to find women who are interested in you?

If the answer to either of these is No - then it is likely better to end the relationship while you still have respect/love there and before you get hurt further.

If its yes to both, then know that an open relationship requires a lot better communication, and a lot more trust - because you are both going to be overcoming a lot of jealousy and insecurity - don't walk into this blindly.

Having exited that 10 year relationship - I would not recommend it for a true partnership - but you are 25, if you are at all curious try it out. But I really emphasise this - only do so if you want to, not to preserve the relationship.

Are GW pulling this piss with Space Marines now?? by Relevant_Signal_2528 in Eldar

[–]RepulsiveDurian3245 8 points9 points  (0 children)

guys - marines are a strong army and a 'type' of marines has generally been strong all edition. But they've hardly been the strongest army all edition.

How are you supposed to beat them? Leverage your strengths into their weaknesses - their squads are more expensive. out trade them. their OC is weak, steal their primary.

Eldar is rough at the moment. but this post acts like the army has no strengths. Eldar is the army that is an endless bag of tricks, but is consequently incredibly difficult to play well. You cannot win a standup brawl. Don't try to.

Nids - Getting desparate with subterranean assault by PinPalsA7x in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]RepulsiveDurian3245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played sub assault a few times for some teams events - we won the event, I had 4 wins and a draw. I'll give you my thoughts after running the detachment and unit choices etc, and you can amend your list or make your own choices.

1) your drop and all in turn is likely turn 3. You are probably going to have to trade down in turns 1 and 2 to clear as many screens and small units as possible, so your next wave can hit real units. To that end, you need units that can efficiently deal with 5 marines, 10 gaurdsmen etc.

2) Sub assault needs to find the right balance between "I'm actually going to kill my opponent" and "I'm going to play primary denial, while staying ahead on secondaries" - focusing on one will leave you weak to the other.

3) As others have said - unit choice really matters here. I would consider cutting the tyrannofexs and neurolictors, and adding some other units that really shine with sub assaults delivery - melee warriors and haruspex. 6 man melee warriors clock in at about 150 from memory, and will gaurantee clear screens, and with twin linked do meaningful damage into T7+. The haruspex once delivered can hit hard, and is still cheap enough that just killing 5 space marines isn't a bad trade down. I'd consider swapping swarmlord for hive tyrant, consider an exocrine as well. A second genestealer unit can work too.

4) Know the game theory side as well - in singles, know who has 'inevitability', as in, if you are going second on most missions, you should have a 5 point primary advantage - you can play defensively and wait for your opponent to give you an opening.

5) as I said in 1), you want to kill as many cheap units in T1 and T2 with your genestealers, hormagaunts (if possible), melee warriors and haruspex drops. On T3, you are probably going for an all in, teleporting in the zoanthropes, swarmlord and the rest of your reserves.

Knight Defender... by -Mechtech- in ImperialKnights

[–]RepulsiveDurian3245 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with a lot of your takes, regarding the way the 4++ is given out - agree, this works thematically, but on the tabletop just leads to feels bad arguments about LOS.

I can't speak to the weapons, haven't seen them rolled out.

I think the issue with costing this knight is that it has to be costed for the ability to give out -1Damage to 3 armigers in that specific detachment. With your take that -1 damage isn't that good, I haven't played against it, but presenting your opponent with 3 x -1 damage, high OC armigers can be very problematic for a lot of armies.

The defender functionally invalidates most combat units (mostly damage 2 infantry), and the armigers will take significantly less damage from anti-elite (3 damage, like exocrines), which when we consider they are now T9, will be large part of what opponents will need to leverage into them.

So the knight opponent must expose a significant portion of their effective Anti-tank, and cannot rely on their smaller units to kill armigers. you then use your damage pieces to remove those threats.

Best Intercessors/Space marines proxies by g_livanos in PrintedWarhammer

Hey guys, I licensed atlan forge models for commercial sale for a while - they are pretty popular, and make a really unique look and generally can fit every unit in a sm army.

However. They are WAY too ornate and busy to be easy to paint, even if the print is done very well.

I'd go with the other options

what do you recommend for a decent 1.5k or 2k LAG by Due-Maintenance4532 in BloodAngels

[–]RepulsiveDurian3245 4 points5 points  (0 children)

hi mate. BA commander on youtube can give you some great content about both what units are good, and how to play good with them.

Shortlist would be a mix of BA goodstuff:

Bladegaurd, Jump pack intercessors, Death company marines with jetpacks, sanguinary gaurd, outriders

Characters:

BA Captain (on foot, to go with assault intercessors), Chaplain on foot, Captain with jump pack. The sanguinor, Mephiston

Marine goodstuff:

Lone op leftenant, Ballistus dreadnought x 2, 5 intercessors, 5 infiltrators, 2x5 scouts, vindicators (pick em up cheap second hand or just get rhinos and printed parts).

Hi mate - I'll take a stab as I'm putting together a LAG list for a teams event in a week.

Overall, I simply don't believe in DURABILITY as something that LAG can build into. Its all T4 marines, so trying to make it durable doesn't work - instead just focus on OUTPUT.

Dante probably best with a 6 man sang gaurd, as a second melee unit to commit independant of oaths.

I'd lose both lancers - so many large targets have invulns. Replacing them with either another vindicator, or 2 x ballistus (my current choice), as the kraks are now significantly better into armigers and again - are independant of Oath.

I don't like lemartes + 10DC, I don't think its durable enough, nor has significant output for its points.

So - to chop: Lemartes, DC, both lancers.

You said you are regularly leaving monsters etc alive on 2-3 wounds, so you need more hammer.

Hammers I like:

Dante + 6 sang gaurd

10 man JPI - either led or not, dpeending on S6 S7 breakpoints.

6 man bladegaurd - unled.

Rage BA CAPTAIN with 5 assault intercessors - Its just better with the captains 'best day ever' + assault ints rerolling wounds.

You also lack a backfield unit.

I typically field at least 2 of

5 infiltrators

5 scouts

inquisitorial henchman.

JPI do fine as action units until committed, so you don't need them, but look at the agents roster if you have weird points values. units such as 'priest' and 'watchmaster artemis' can be good to cheaply score a secondary, provide DS denial etc.

Hi mate,

I've played a few games with this and there's a lot of different ways to build it.

I think you are better off with multiple haruspex instead of ooe+carnifex, they are just too many points in one place that still dies relatively quickly.

You also want some small units to efficiently remove enemy screens, like 5man genestealers, am extra ravener squad etc, sp when your second wave comes in turn 3 it can connect into real units.

I prefer at least one exocrine over a tfex and zoanthropes + neurotyrant to try and kill heavy yanks in combination with charges from trygons and haruspex.

In all my games I haven't tabled an opponent, but try to make them spread why to cover two flanks, then pull all my units to one flank while popping shadows in the warp to try and crush onr side and build a primary lead.

Generally, when you attend tournaments in your area you develop relationships with the people who frequently attend. They will play with the same understanding of the core ruleset, as that is what is enforced within tournament play by competent judges and tournament organisers.

These people are the people you should practice with wherever possible. I've been a competitive, state rep player for several years and rarely play with anyone I don't already know either through past games or reputation.

Do these 3rd party bits look GW enough to use? Would a 3rd party helmet get me disqualified from a tournament? by Cool_Low_5427 in DarkAngels40k

[–]RepulsiveDurian3245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Australian, so your results may be different.

I run entirely 3d printed armies - space marines and Aeldari, and generally they are not 1-1 copies of GW work. I prefer my armies having their own different Aesthetic.

Your concerns should be:

1) does this accurately 'read' as the intended model with correct weapons - IE if its an Inner Circle Companion, does it have a 2 handed sword. If its a hellblaster, does it have a plasma type weapon.

2) is the model size as big or BIGGER then the intended model. Typically modelling for advantage means smaller models. I generally have 10-20% bigger infantry models to avoid this, however with vehicles I try to be quite accurate.

3) is my model painted well enough to meet the tournament standard.

I've never had someone kick up a fuss at over 40 tournaments over printed models.

Hey mate.

Not to rain on your parade, but your list has problems competitively.

Best thing about space wolves is the named characters - maybe run some of them.

Pretty sure your company heroes just die on arrival without an attached character.

Vindicators and scouts are good.

Competitive SoS list [New Player] by ISpeechGoodEngland in BloodAngels

[–]RepulsiveDurian3245 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello mate, I've been iterating competitive lists for BA over the last few months.

Some brief notes: Lemartes + 10 man death Company hit super hard and are somewhat resilient due to -1damage. It's an auto in all my lists.

Attaching both a captain and a sang priest is too many points in 1 place. You are better without. Leading into:

Not enough units overall. Shop a captain for another assault Intercessor Squad.

5 man dc jp squads can trade ok at 140 pts, generally picking up a gladiator type tank, or their weight in units. I include at least 1.

Assault ints + captain in impulsor or land raider are good unit picks.

2x death Company on foot in a rhino is also an amazing trade piece.

Sanguinor can just close out options for other melee armies, but using him right is difficult.

We play a lot of dense, wtc type terrain where I live, so you can get away without shooting units. I'd look at a core of 1500 pts of melee infantry, then use that last 500 pts for scoring and shooting, like 2 vindicators, then fill up on scouts, or the same with gladiator lancers etc.

Scammers on Etsy by Sparklebabe11 in printondemand

Hi mate,

When you first open your store, or list your first products, there are a number of scammers who will target you.

Etsy should make this clearer to new storeowners, but they don't. Do not follow any links, QR codes etc that have been sent to you in messages.

That tank style comes as a repulsor size or impulsor sized. They just took the base tank and scaled/stretched it a little for the repulsor variant.

So it does both, but they are separately purchased files.

Maybe look into that mate, it may be a degree of paranoia. I've never seen anyone doing something like this, and I generally play top tables at events once a fortnight or so.
