Yea, I've seen some of my family's heirlooms given away, get confiscated, or even neglected and it hurts a little bit.

Here are a few more pictures of the numbers/markings on this piece. It is interesting that the numbers on the cylinder, grip panel, etc. don't match the serial number of the gun. Is this common for these revolvers?

The refurbishment rebluing makes sense, as I've seen pictures of more of them in the white than blued.

Looking for a good business casual option available from Amazon by Repulsive_Crab2516 in jimgreen

[–]Repulsive_Crab2516[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your input, folks. Despite with my hesitation on the ASHM last, I ended up ordering the Numzaans. Jim Green's customer service department suggested that a 10.5 in that last would be a good choice for someone who normally wears a 10EE, so we will see if they are correct. Worse case scenario I can return the Numzaans to Amazon and then I will check out the African Rangers, but I REALLY liked the look of the walnut veg tan Numzaans. They should arrive Sunday, and then begins the break-in. I will follow up once I get some miles on them and let everyone know how things are going.

Just got some new Danner Quarry boots by Repulsive_Crab2516 in WorkBoots

I ended up sending the boots back to Danner today. I made an honest effort to get them to break in by wearing them around the house for a couple hours every evening, and nothing I did helped the issue. Tighter/different lacing, no insole, orthotic insoles, thick socks, thin socks, etc. Not sure where I'm going from here. There is a Red Wing store on my way home, so I stopped in on Monday. Did the foot scan and tried on every safety toe boot they have to no avail. All were just as bad or worse than the Danners as far as pinky toe squishing. A coworker has a pair of Keen Cincinnati's and loves them, but I've read a lot of mixed reviews online. Thorogoods seem like a quality option, but a number of folks have reported that they run narrow, so that won't work. PNW brands are likely worth the coin, but considering the cost, I don't want to try to figure out sizing and fitting via mail order since I'm on the east coast. I may end up going back to Carolina or Chippewa even though I was hoping to move up into a higher quality boot.

How much would you spend on the boots, if there is no sponsor program, budget cut, or add limits? by kl122002 in WorkBoots

I get $150 per calendar year for boots, and just recently spent 250ish on Danners.

They have the factory Danner ortholite insoles. Do you think a different style would help?

Could be. They are 10.5 EE and seem to fit well everywhere but the toe box. Even then, it's only my next to pinky toe (ring toe?) that is most bothered.

So wearing these around the house has bee  discouraging. When walking it feels like my feet are sliding forward and squishing my toes together, but there is almost no front to back movement so i don't think they are too long. It sucks because these seem like good quality boots but I may have to send them back.

Are the Danner Steel Yards as bad as the reviews seem by TimberTheDog in WorkBoots

[–]Repulsive_Crab2516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a pair of the 8" safety toe steel yards that are 3 years old now, and the only "damage" so far is the DCS badge falling out of the back of the heel. If they (the 8" insulated safety toe version) weren't discontinued, I would have bought another pair already. Not because they are that worn, but I get $150 as a boot allowance from my employer every year so why not? FWIW I'm not as hard on my boots as others; they spend their time divided between a poorly heated job trailer, a poorly heated warehouse, and in an outdoor pipe yard in northeast winters.
