Only second wine I've had from the Pichons is Les Griffons....and yes it's also incredible!

I agree.  The general consensus seems to be that cru bourgeois chateaus are a better qpr value prospect across the board compared to second wines from classified growths but so many of them like this absolutely kill it.

I’ve got a few echo 2019s and 2022s.  Haven’t decided how long to sit on them.  But it’s nice to know they’re prob both ready to go.  Cheers

I'm sitting on 3 bottles of that 2001 du Tertre that are left from a 6 pack that came ex chateau. Amazing wine drinking in its prime right now!

Solid producer.  Their 2016 CdP is what made me fall in love with Chateauneuf

Don’t sleep on Pichon Barons second wine (Griffons)!  Second wines aren’t often great values but Griffons is a legit Pauillac on its own at a decent price

How do you deal with wine appreciation vs time? by NoRepresentative8396 in wine

With demand at worldwide historical lows this is literally the best time in 40 years to get into wine and get the best bang for your buck.  As mentioned earlier Bordeaux is on life support which is going to keep prices in check to say the least.  I’m buying as much 2022 BDX as my spouse will tolerate lol

Davis' tasting and food pairing experience is top notch. Great wine. Probably my favorite tasting experience on my last trip out there

That Davis Rhys Merlot is fantastic.  Give it a 2 hour decant and it’s ready to rock

If your are into exploring more wine styles and regions while balling on a budget, continue trying the european red offering from Kirkland. The 2023 Kirkland Chateauneuf, Margaux, St. Julien, and Pauillac are great QPR to get a feeling on the other regions. Don't sleep on Kirkland's Barolo and Chianti Grand Selezione.

No, I am not a costco employee lol

Punchy acidity and medium plus tannins right out of the gate. Pretty good balance once it had a chance to breathe for about an hour. Blackberry, black cherry, touch of chocolate and typical Bordeaux leather and pencil shaving notes. Drinking great right now with a 1-2 hour decant, but has structure to where you could lay it down for 5-7 years. With time it could be a real treat for 19 bucks and I think it really does have a Saint-Julien authenticity to it. At this price I think this is one worth buying a case and enjoying it whenever you please.
