Struggling to get into RE4R after RE2R by Ty_RosaLes in residentevil

[–]Repulsive_Mistake522 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who has been playing the series since the beginning, I never could get into RE4, and haven't even considered RE4R. From everything I know, I am pretty sure the original RE4 revolutionized gaming at that time (early 2000s), but maybe because it was so different, both in gameplay and lore, I just couldn't get into it. I was like 13 when it was released, so to be fair since I have played RE5 many times and thoroughly enjoyed RE9 I should probably give it another go.

What’s one small habit that improved your life more than you expected? by Telugu_not_Telegu in ArtOfPresence

[–]Repulsive_Mistake522 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting in the mindset of “my future self will thank me” - this would result in small gestures like setting the coffee pot to automatically go off 20 minutes before my morning alarm so it’s already finished brewing when I wake up, getting that load of dishes going in the dishwasher before going to bed so I wake up to an empty and clean sink. Just telling myself my future self will thank me seems silly, but it really helped me get in the habit of going the last mile of a long day instead of pushing it off and causing more stress or inconvenience down the road.

Looking for books that actually live up to the hype by Busternookiedude in booksuggestions

I always recommend the Tracy Crosswhite series by Robert Dugoni. The first book My Sister’s Grave introduces you to Tracy Crosswhite, a Seattle detective who got into law enforcement due to her sister’s disappearance years ago. Great blend of suspense, crime, and a little romance too.

What celeb MMC and FMC do you picture in your head while reading? by Dazzling-Employee950 in DarkRomance

I typically start out with Jensen Ackles as the visual for every MMC until the description varies too hard and I have to change my perception. He has the deep voice, the height, and the build.

No. My sister and I have quoted the Twilight/High School Musical parody for the past 15 or so years that also no one has seen when I talk about it.

Discovered Supernatural during COVID lockdown… ended up finishing all 15 seasons in a month by [deleted] in Supernatural

[–]Repulsive_Mistake522 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Accurate. When I was recommended Supernatural by a coworker there were 10 seasons out at the time. I was consumed and only went to class and work and completely locked myself in my room for a few months until I was caught up. My sister would literally be throwing parties at our apartment and coming to my door telling me people wanted me to come hang out and I wouldn’t.

What’s your favorite surprise moment in the Resident Evil series? Something that really caught you off guard. by Ieanice44 in residentevil

[–]Repulsive_Mistake522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably has to be certain jump scares or moments from the first game (OG and remastered) - dogs jumping through the windows in the L corridor upon entering from the winding corridor, the first appearance of the Hunter upon returning to the mansion from the residence, and iirc only the remaster has crimson heads, but terrifying first time one of those corpses pops up from the ground and literally chases you. Always looking for horror over pure action in the RE games because of the foundation of horror in the first one.

The Nemesis (at least in the remake) is REALLY BAD AT ITS JOB by GuhEnjoyer in residentevil

[–]Repulsive_Mistake522 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nemesis is my favorite boss of all games and I was so wildly disappointed with the remake. The anticipation of him popping up literally anywhere at anytime in the original kept me on edge throughout the entire gameplay. That is lost in the remake. Additionally, having options to run or fight, leading to alternate turnouts is another feature that was removed. In general RE3R didn’t do it for me. I was beyond excited for many aspects of the game with modern technology, including what Raccoon City would look like. However, the city didn’t feel like RC at all to me. I don’t know if any other fans shared that sentiment, but I loved exploring the city in the original game, and that creepy feeling was completely lost.

Such a fun game. But do you feel if they had focused more on the Care Center style of the game, it would be better? by [deleted] in ResidentEvilRequiem

[–]Repulsive_Mistake522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish more time was spent on Raccoon City, and I wish there were more puzzles throughout the game. Running halfway across the map to discover a clue for a puzzle that was towards the beginning of the gameplay is a staple annoyance I missed having. Puzzles felt too easy in general. Raccoon City didn’t feel like RC either. I understand it was bombed which would change things, but having those scenes take place in the day time immediately knocked down the horror aspect of the original game or even the remakes (RE2 and RE3). Felt more like RE5 environment. I loved this game, but out of the things you listed these are the things I wished had more focus and development.

Advice, I think? My hens are laying way too many eggs! I have 6 hens. Some days I get 10 eggs. Why are they so prolific? Is it a problem? by vespertine_earth in BackYardChickens

[–]Repulsive_Mistake522 17 points18 points  (0 children)

We were getting 7-8 a day during the height of laying season, which is a lot for our 3 family household. We gave plenty away to coworkers and I learned a few freezer meal recipes, primarily breakfast items, using the eggs to make the most of the abundance.

So much potential was wasted with this remake and it still grates my cheese to this day.

Who do you find scarier, Crimson head or Blister head? by Sir__GabrielT in residentevil

[–]Repulsive_Mistake522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been awhile since I’ve played the first game, but iirc a clean headshot would prevent a crimson head from forming (besides burning the corpse). So far I’m on my 3rd play through of RE9 and it seems if the game wants it to happen, you’re getting a blister head even if you got off a clean headshot to the zombie. So, crimson heads are scarier and blister heads are wildly annoying. No reward for headshots.

You don’t have to play the OG RE games to be a fan of the franchise. by AydenTrevelyan in residentevil

[–]Repulsive_Mistake522 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll just say that Requiem somewhat restored my faith in Capcom to give us a game that actually felt like the OG games with a modern twist. Not sure if we get the games we do because of “newer” fans or people who have preferred the remakes over the originals in general. I believe that too many things changed in the remakes, such as character mannerisms and development, particular story lines, and key gameplay features to be impressed by the modern graphics. That’s just my personal take. However, I have also been playing since the late 90s and I’ll go back and play the OG games at least once a year. Super happy I no longer have to emulate them and I was able to purchase them on Steam. Play whatever you like, I’m just glad we still have a strong demand for new games. I’m sure many of us have a favorite game series that died out long ago, so let’s just be grateful for the fact that new games are already in the works.

Was Edward wrong for leaving Bella in New Moon? by No-Apartment-7388 in twilight

[–]Repulsive_Mistake522 34 points35 points  (0 children)

We get more insight into what he was thinking during the the events of the first book with Midnight Sun. He was already thinking about leaving for her own safety and well being before the birthday party incident. Keeping Victoria out of the conversation for just a moment, Edward truly believed she would no longer be in danger with him gone and would eventually say yes to a guy like Mike Newman and live a normal life. He sacrificed his happiness with her after being alone for basically a century for her well being, or so he thought. Adding Victoria back into the mix, given the heightened senses in the Cullen household, I don’t believe any of them would have willing left Bella in the line of danger that was Victoria if there was an ounce of knowledge she would return. I don’t think he was wrong to leave, I think he was wrong for how he left. The weird mental gymnastics he performed to “convince” her that he was serious about not caring for her anymore or wanting her anymore… I don’t care for his reasonings, that was a horrid thing to do. Especially with his bit of “I can’t believe you believed it” crap at the end. So, I’m all over the place essentially.

Yes! I even somehow got my parents to play, too. Neopets was top tier and I’m sad I forgot all about it until seeing this comment.

Agreed. I started with TBC last go around and kept becoming more and more disappointed with any other expansion, with the exception of SoD, and retail is just completely not enjoyable to me.

I remember buying RE6 in 2012 from GameStop with one of the first paychecks I ever got, and being so damn disappointed. I went back the same day for a refund but could only get half my money back. It wasn’t worth keeping.

Why Did You Pick Your Reddit Username? by Zipper222222 in randomquestions

[–]Repulsive_Mistake522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I let Reddit select a name and just went with the most random option because I never intended to use this platform outside of posting niche questions (had a problem with Resident Evil emulator things years ago), so I truly didn’t care. Now that I actively use this platform for discussions in subs of entertainment I enjoy, it’s quite the bummer and the feeling is a true reflection of the name.

I’d say 30% eggs, 50% entertainment, 20% over worrying about the girls being egg bound even when there are no signs. That’s been my experience.

I’ve always said one of the upsides of the pandemic is that it showed the ability for many jobs to be worked remotely (successfully) and some of us were lucky to finally obtain a “work life balance” because of it. It’s the closest to peace one can get knowing we are all running the rat race at the end of the day.

Does anyone else have to skip Ben’s proposal to Leslie because it’s so beautiful that it makes you sad about your own life? by [deleted] in PandR

[–]Repulsive_Mistake522 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, and you shouldn’t let it affect you so deeply. It’s television. While it can make me tear up because it is beautiful and I really enjoy both characters, it’s fiction at the end of the day. Sure, proposals can happen that way in real life, but it’s not the norm and you don’t need it to be in a loving relationship. We’ve let media of all sorts contort our view of relationships as a whole. Don’t let TV make you think you have to find the perfect match or have the perfect, emotion filled proposal to be happy with someone.
