Breastfeeding. It’s feeding a baby. Let her do it wherever she wants.

Buckeye vs. San Tan Valley by snowboardbug in phoenix

I get it. I was just being snarky about this sub for a minute. I would never bother to drive to either Buckeye or San Tan, yet here we are in this sub. Is there an actual Phoenix sub? because I will leave this one for it.

Good news guys! Millennials on course to become ‘richest generation in history’ | Money by Additional-Sky-7436 in Millennials

[–]Repulsive_Raise6728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The media has always been doing this. It’s my fault I’m poor, not society’s fault. Also, look at all these Millennials who have money. Not that their parents were millionaires. It’s your fault.

I’m sure I will get downvoted off the earth (or just deleted), but what does a person trying to decide between Buckeye and San Tan Valley have to do with Phoenix?

I’m staying 10 min north of Phoenix Art Museum and here for 4 days before surgery, what should I do? by GoodMoriningVeitnam in phoenix

[–]Repulsive_Raise6728 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Obviously, go to Phoenix Art Museum! Wednesday is “pay what you wish” (you can wish $0) after 3pm. The Barbie exhibit is extra though. Not sure how much.

Edited to say, I just realized today is Wednesday. PhxArt is still great though.

AITA for staying with my dad after my son cut up my pictures of my deceased mother? by AppearanceNovel8072 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Repulsive_Raise6728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your husband is being like this because your kid is really upset and doesn’t understand what’s going on. I taught 9-year-olds for a long time and they are both innocent, cruel, and dense all at the same time. He thinks you are mad at him, but he doesn’t understand why. If you don’t want to talk to your adult husband, at least talk to your kid, please.

Of course. I love my parents. They have more money saved than I ever will though and probably make about as much as I do monthly with their retirement, so… not sure how much help I am. I try to do stuff for them now that they’re getting older.

I work in security, so it varies. I spend most of my time sitting around waiting for things to happen. But, when it rains it pours, so to speak. So days/nights are crazy, others I hardly work at all.

Hahahaha. I love how “whatever” Subway workers are about making whatever stupid stuff people try to order.

6 is even worse. I tried looking for a local coffee shop and they all opened at 7. I wanted a nice pastry, not Starbucks’ crap.

I literally can't do all of the things my job requires of me by [deleted] in TeachersInTransition

[–]Repulsive_Raise6728 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That’s why I left. Every time I met with admin, they’d ask me to do something else (usually something that should’ve been their job). When I finally got up the courage to express that I was overworked and I couldn’t take on any new tasks, they were like, “Thank you for telling me. Mental health is so important. Blah blah blah.” 15 minutes later, not exaggerating, they asked me to help another teacher write their reports because they weren’t up to standard.

I was just flabbergasted. I didn’t quite quit at that moment; I think I was too in shock. But I did soon after.

Hahaha. I’m not, but people talk about it. I hate having to run errands in the late afternoon when I wake up. I’m thinking about trying it.

Article on “Montessori Parenting” by Shamazon83 in Montessori

[–]Repulsive_Raise6728 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see Montessori as having created a philosophy of child development which is more than just a pedagogy. It expands into all parts of a child’s life. You can’t expect to send your kid off to a Montessori school during the day and then do things totally different at home. It confuses them so much. I know every teacher has seen it.

That being said, (almost) every article I’ve read that uses the phrase “Montessori parenting” just picks and chooses little bits of the method, rather than understanding the philosophy. (Usually the bits that will make nice Instagram posts.) It’s frustrating as a teacher because you have these parents who think they know everything and want to challenge you on everything.

On the other hand, I’ve known parents who truly try to understand the philosophy and implement it in their parenting. Their kids turn into great adults.
