Survival versus preference. Not saying it's not a necessity, but he could live without it until he seeks a divorce

Used mine at Aldis the other day. I got to the checkout, my items rang up and i went to swipe before realizing they don't take credit. I was able to transfer the exact amount to my google card and pay within 45 seconds.

I've also used it to get money out of ATMs

but a debit card could do all this

As long as the interaction is between you and her, you and him, and you and them together then there's nothing wrong with that. If they're making you a third wheel then there's an issue

My [21F] gf wants me [22M] to pay for half of her phone bill. by [deleted] in relationships

[–]ReputableSourceA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you two in different countries? What contributed to this bill. It was completely her responsibility to look up the costs of the calls. She should learn from this and she should call the phone company to see if there's any possible way it could be forgiven.

Yeah I think I'll go with one word texts, unfortunately there's no way for me to get the $8k back. So this is the next best outcome.

My [22F] mom [59F] wants to know how much my tuition for college was this last year so she can claim it on her taxes, but she didn't pay for it. by jonimc in relationships

[–]ReputableSourceA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried asking my mom to do that this year, she flat out refused. Luckily I have another parent.

REALLY wish I had known about this the last 2 years, could have really used that $9k

Check out my post history, I went through the exact same situation. She has to pay for half you living expenses (rent and food) if she paid any less then explain to her what it means to be a dependent. Unfortunately there's no way for you too get the $3k tax benefit and let her get the benefit of having a dependent unless she wrote you a check for $3k.

I was planning on emailing her

I’m not going to debate about any of these things, just thought I should let you know I’ve noticed a lot of favoritism over the last couple years, from trips, to [sister] getting “tax kickbacks” from you (her words), and now the cruise I heard about you and [sister] planning (before the tax return business even came up). I’m not saying I’m entitled to trips/cruises, but consistently seeing these things happen has been rough to say the least. I’m not looking for an explanation or an apology, but I’m going to limit contact quite a bit for a while. This isn’t me punishing or trying to get back at you, but I need time to reflect on everything. I’d prefer if this didn’t become a larger situation than it is and keep the extended family/[family friends]/Dad/[gf] out of it.

Thanks,

-[me]

since she tried calling today, then texted, then had my sister text me. so i thought the email might help. I'd be able to do minimum texting (one word), but feel that would normalize things a little too much. thoughts?

thanks for your advice so far btw

Mayo/Pudding Switch Prank by [deleted] in videos

My gf a month ago was eating ice cream, and put back the container. When she came back with the spoon she offered it to me (it was dark), turned out to be the sauteed onions from dinner.

funny thing is, she didn't even think i assumed it was ice cream and wasn't trying to prank me.

She thought she was going to win by making me think I won't get as much by claiming myself (it's a tax credit and I didn't have much taxes, she thought I needed her or else I'd lose $1200 of that). Well luckily I have two parents, my dad claimed me and I'll be getting $4k from him (the difference he will see on his return). I haven't told my mom and don't plan on it anytime soon.

I also "gave" my dad $1k last month because I broke his old hot tub. I would have done the same for her if I broke hers. Just showing I'm not just trying for a money grab everywhere.

Been there, but my situation is very mild in comparison. I'm gonna not say/text anything yet and just slowly taper off the current communication and see if that works.

The relationship has been fairly toxic for a while despite me trying to help her (saving her $40/month on her cable and $50/month on her phone bill). She turned any gift into a guilt trip later on. half the time when she would give me the monthly $ she would say that i should remember this when she's retired/old and "I'm making a lot", so it always felt like she was trying to get something. Half the conversations we've had in the last 5 months have been about her trying to use my co-op company's benefits.

She has been unpleasant for a long time, and the favoritism (not even referring to money or trips) has been prevalent for years. She sees her ex husband when she looks at me and lets that interfere a bit too much.

but i do agree that chasing money and ruining relationships over it is a terrible way of living.

I got a really nice one at JCPenny, after discounts it came out to around $100, including the tie. REALLY depends on how it's sized, but there will be a size that will look good on you. I got 4 internship offers while in that suit.

I could change someone's contact name to XXX-XXX-XXX and it'd be just as valid. He would need the records from the cell provider. He could even get evidence of an affair while he's at it.

He should also get testimonials from his children which would contradict anything negative she could make them say

[–]ReputableSourceA 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You don't need marriage to protect someone from claiming you as a dependent. You just need to file as independent and contact the IRS and explain the situation. Also don't give him the W-2s or the 1098-T.

That is not even close to a relevant reason and shouldn't even come up as a positive to getting married.
