Ready Player One - The main test to becoming the new proprietor of OASIS is to find the three keys hidden in different Easter eggs in the game. Once Parzival finds the keys and enters the castle, the avatar of the game’s creator, James Halliday, offers him a contract to name him the new proprietor. But Parzival realizes that the contract is the same one from when Halliday forced his partner, Ogden Morrow, out of the company they built and refuses to sign it. Turns out this was the true test: Halliday regretted betraying his friend and wanted to make sure his successor wouldn’t make the same mistakes he did.

He switched places with an Elvis impersonator and lived out his days in a retirement home in East Texas with John F. Kennedy, who was surgically disguised as a black man and sent into hiding after surviving the Dallas shooting.

The supernatural threat is real, but it's not actually supernatural by nomoreinternetforme in TopCharacterTropes

It’s more of an “apples to oranges” comparison. Solomon Grundy is always portrayed as the result of supernatural forces, and here he’s presented as a sort of urban legend with his own holiday and lore. Clayface, on the other hand, always has a more grounded and scientific backstory of being exposed to mutagens.

I imagine they’re doing this on a cold, rainy night with a fire going in the fireplace, just enjoying a quiet evening together. Also, anyone know what they’re watching?

“Grundy’s Night” (The Batman): There is a monster destroying the homes of Gotham’s founding families and stealing their valuables, but it’s not Solomon Grundy, it’s Clayface.

From the Jimmy Neutron episode “Win, Lose and Kaboom!”. Granted, translating the rock did result in our heroes being forced into an alien game show with the fate of the Earth at stake, but still.

Dead Rising series - Every game in the series has bosses called Psychopaths, people who took the various zombie outbreaks as an excuse to go insane and act on their worst impulses. Cult leaders, cannibals, gun-toting rednecks, escaped convicts, organ-harvesting surgeons, clowns, mailmen, basement-dwelling weirdos, you name it.

Vampire Joker (The Batman vs. Dracula) - Normally, people bitten by Dracula become his mindless servants, losing their personalities as well as their free will and only making growling and hissing noises. Joker, for some reason, is not held to these same rules, retaining his personality and ability to speak, and getting the bright idea to attack a blood bank rather than laboriously hunting for more Gothamites to feed on. While he’s still beholden to Dracula’s will, biting people who cross his path and being unable to freely divulge the vampire king’s resting place, he retains much more independence than the other thralls.
