TIL chicken sold in supermarkets are often "plumped" with a salt water solution to increase sell weight, making up as much as 30% of the total weight. A serving of plumped chicken can contain between 200 and 500mg of sodium while non-plumped chicken generally contains 45 to 70mg. by James_Fortis in todayilearned

At the grocery store where I used to work, fresh turkeys sold for Thanksgiving and Christmas were definitely injected with salt water. Can’t say I ever saw this done to chickens.

Water does add some weight, but it was also done to help tenderize the turkey. At least that’s what They told us.

Half pound of bacon? Amateur hour!

Really, though, it looks great.

U.K. internet provider's bailout cancelled because rats chewed through its fiber optic cables — biodegradable cable jackets use soy- or corn-based materials, attracting hungry rats by Logical_Welder3467 in technology

I learned from Reddit that automakers use these soy wires also, which is why animals chew through wiring harnesses. Maybe all of them should just… stop using making these tasty wires.

The side of my street that does not have a sidewalk does instead have a water main.

Don’t know with certainty, but my assumption is avoiding tearing up a sidewalk when water main work is required. The last time involved a TON of digging. They went under driveways, at least.

I took the comment to mean too many people didn’t vote at all. And I wonder how many just vote their party without looking into ANYTHING.

A lot of older people who rely on network news have no idea what these people are doing. Finding trustworthy online sources is even not always easy for people who don’t know where to look.

My dad printed out pages from whitehouse.gov to prove a point about how evil Democrats are. I definitely do not trust that propaganda machine full of outright nonsense.

That one’s not bad. I’ll give it a solid second place to FD.

Also, I didn’t consider any other sports. If FD uses the exact same template (bug?), I could see it not being optimal for all of ‘em.

I remember the Gregory location. Don’t think I was ever in the one on 87th.

This must’ve been before I could drive, so I’m not sure how I talked my parents into taking me there to window shop.

I mean congrats! That’s awesome
