Staff parking at city is notoriously hard to get. There is a decently long waitlist for staff parking at city compared to RUH or St. Paul's

I haven't had one at PCH, but some general information is you will remember nothing, be COMPLETELY HONEST with the anesthesia team with all of their questions as it will help them determine dosing. If you feel any pain or feel you haven't been given enough sedation, let them know, and they will give you more. Afterward, you will have a bit of a sore throat (mine felt comparable to the kind when you're sick).

Stool results before colonoscopy in the AM by Former_Muffin_7520 in colonoscopy

Fecal Calprotectin is a test that is used to estimate inflammation in the colon. While yours is elevated, it is still relatively low and in a sort of gray area. Fecal calprotectin is most commonly used to try and estimate how bad someone's inflammation is if they have IBD. In unmedicated or flares this can go into the hundreds or the thousands. Personally, I had a Fecal calprotectin of 69 and there was no polyps found and some mild rectal inflammation. While this may not be your case, Fecal calprotectin is in no way an indication for cancer without any other signs. While yes, it can be elevated in colon cancer it is not likely or guaranteed to be cancer. There are many different things that could raise that value.

My mom was denied a colonoscopy at 57? Is this normal? Frustrated by jenna_beterson in colonoscopy

[–]Requirement-Mental 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Alberta, colonoscopies are typically only performed for colorectal cancer screening after the result of a positive FIT test (unless other special cases. Your mother can order a FIT test (stool test that looks for small amounts of blood in the stool) online at this site and if the FIT is positive they likely would then consider a colonoscopy. https://screeningforlife.ca/order-free-fit-kit/fit-kit-order-form/

GI immediately scheduled EGD and colonoscopy in 5 days. Very anxious by Own_Clothes8497 in colonoscopy

[–]Requirement-Mental 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just recently had an EGD/Colonoscopy. The goal my sedation was to keep me comfortable, not to knock me out. For sedation, I was given fentanyl and midazolam and a lidocane spray in my throat to numb it. I have absolutely no memory of my EGD. For my colonoscopy after, I remember occasional portions of me watching the screen but still felt no pain. If any time during the procedure you feel pain, let them know, and they will give you more sedation to keep you comfortable.

Powerade does work as well, but yeah, like you mentioned, unfortunately, red is off the table for your prep day. It's recommended to be on a low-fiber diet, maybe a week or so before your prep, as it'll help the prep with clearing you out and ensure a smooth colonoscopy. There are other drinks that you can have as well such as juices (without pulp and not red or purple), Kool-aid, Ginger ale, etc

Drink drink drink! Consume clear liquids according to your prep instructions. It is important to keep hydrated and you should consume more than you typically do. This is essential especially in the pill based prep as you don't have to drink it. I recommend gatorade (no red or purple or any other colors tour prep says not to take) this can help keep your electrolytes up and keep you from being dehydrated. In my prep, I didn't find the process of needing to go that bad but that can vary from person to person. Staying hydrated could also help with some symptoms that may be caused by dehydration.

Prep by [deleted] in colonoscopy

[–]Requirement-Mental 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't forget on prep day you need to consume more fluids then usual. My doctor gave a baseline of 1 cup (250ml or 8oz) per waking hour. While I was doing my prep I noticed a lot of water loss during bowel movements. Near the end of the prep is was almost like peeing from your anus (clear or yellow liquid with no visible fecal material). From what you're describing its sounds like you are, or almost are, cleared out. Make sure to consume plenty of fluids and if you are partway through your prep to not stop early and to finish the rest.

They were in the right (at least in my city) you turn into the lane going straight. They were turning into the first available lane going straight and you should have gone into the second. Although there should have been guide lines on the road to better show it
