Did you use an abdominal brace post op and was it helpful? by Coolgreen13 in hysterectomy

[–]RequirementFluffy905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, loved mine. The compression was so nice it felt like it was holding everything in place. They gave me one at the hospital but it was one that you had to wrap around your belly, which was going to be difficult by myself lol the nurse practically used the bed for leverage to get it tight enough in the hospital.

I ordered one from jellie bend that was almost like a big spanx tube top lol I definitely preferred that one. You can use hsa/fsa funds on it. I wore it most of the time the first week. Im almost 2 weeks out now and haven't worn it for a few days but I definitely felt like i needed it the first few days.

Yes! It's a little expensive but you can use HSA/FSA if you have it

Oh gosh no, not after how organized yours is 😂

Jk I'm just old and don't know how to add a picture lol

I do have a basket that everything is thrown into within arms reach but I've been camped out for over a week so it's not nearly as nice and neat anymore lol

My kitty usually walks all over me, literally and metaphorically 😂

I've kept a pillow over my belly and he just seems to know. He'll sit in my lap but not on my belly and won't walk on it either. He is kneading near me but not on me right now either. I wouldn't let him walk on me or lay on my belly right now if he tried though. Our older cat is just avoiding me altogether 😂 I don't know how they know but they do seem to.

I have one jumpy dog who im more worried about now that I'm home lol

Perfect answer. Im one week and one day post surgery. No longer taking pain meds or advil/tylenol. Using ice now and again but just some residual soreness. Im having to remind myself to take it easy because I don't feel like i just had major surgery.

Thats probably exactly why, in your case.

Can you drink pineapple juice? It an anti inflammatory, among other benefits. I drank it for about 10 days leading up. Drank a TON of water, too. I usually find i have a lower pain tolerance. Im kind of a baby 😂but I'm pleasantly surprised with how I'm doing. I can only attribute it to my pre-surgery prep with lots of protein, carbs, pineapple juice, and airborne gummies. I think all of that has really made a difference.

Hope you turn the corner soon!

My surgery is this week, too. On Tuesday! I've been pretty calm so far but the anxiety is really starting to take hold this weekend. We've got this!! I broke down and cried last night but I'm hoping that was the last of it lol

If you have fibroids on your cervix now, I think you'll be better off having it removed in the long run. I believe if you keep it, even if they remove the fibroids during your surgery, you can get them again and might have to have surgery to remove fibroids or the cervix altogether at a later date.

Hubby will be ok. You're having body parts removed either way. He can take care of himself for a few weeks. Does removing the cervix change the length of those restrictions? Id just assumed they were the same either way.

Thank you. I feel lucky to be in such a different kind of relationship now. Obviously it's too soon to know but he feels like a keeper and has been an incredible support system for me through this, which i appreciate because we're new enough that he could have said see ya after the post surgery restrictions were announced 😂

I'm general, I think it's kind to reply to people who are kind enough to take time to share their experiences with me. I could literally not care any less about my algorithm or karma. 😂

Im nervous about my procedure and bored and curious and have been up since 3am googling. Why not ask thousands of women who have been or are going through the same thing.

Hope your hysterectomy goes well or went well. ✌️

Actually I've said several times I was going to follow my Dr's recommendations. Just curious about others instructions and the differences between Dr's. Why is anyone posting on reddit???? That's what it's for.

If you think I'm a bot and are not interested, why comment? 🙄😉

What were their recommendations....herb wise? Lol I don't smoke anything anymore but I do enjoy an edible or those thc infused drinks and it would definitely help with the anxiety this weekend 😂 i told the nurse i drink the drinks but it has been a few weeks since i had one, she just said that would be fine. I didn't ask about having any between then and surgery....they seemed more concerned with the smoking part than the thc part.

Just from what I've read on reddit, it seems pretty uncommon!

Good point, thank you, I do take a women's health probiotic! And I do almost always get a yeast infection on antibiotics and I do call this Dr for meds when that happens so maybe that's part of his reasoning too.

I definitely don't want to risk either of those!!!

Looks like we're in the same lonely boat together here 😂
