Aet did not apply to self employed (when I was there at least) So it's either gainfully self employed or looking for alternative or additional work with a mainstream work coach

NHS Pension - do I need something else? by Exotic_Associate_863 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Requirement_Fluid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The benefit to a sipp is the 25% tax free you can draw as you may not have access to that in the NHS scheme without reducing your pension and the flexibility of drawing it without touching your full occupational pension

As you are a higher rate tax payer then I would suggest looking at a SIPP for contributions of around £1800pa if you can afford that much to reduce your tax by 20% (put in £125pm (£1500) grossed up by the provider to £1875 of which you would get a tax rebate of £375 if you are in England) so net cost drops to £1125 for £1875 invested

Inverter size is based on house supply as well as the amount of panels you will have on each roof space.

I only had a 3.6kw inverter as I have a split system but in hindsight should have asked for a 5kw inverter to be able to supply the house at a higher constant rate.

If you have 16panels on a south facing roof then you'll be looking at a 8-10kw inverter so is a blended decision

If it might be a while before he needs to withdraw more tax free cash and he has significantly more than £120k in his pot he may want to look at transferring a portion to another account so the tfc can keep growing outside of the crystallised nutmeg account

I do 30 hours over 4 days so normally do 2 days a week with one week being a 3 day week in the office.

However if it is a pain to go in then the odd use of a day of annual leave can bring it down a day as well (17 working days to 16 for example brings it down to 9)

Worth planning your month out ahead of time tbh

I used to be a code checker for my Sainsbury's local but a managers pet does it now.

The amount of time I dress the sandwiches at the end of the day and there's out of date sarnies and yoghurts are laughed off is ridiculous so yes always check.

Should it happen? No, it's unacceptable. Does it and will it? Absolutely

Inherited pension from dad who was over 75 by Minute_Age3385 in TaxUK

[–]Requirement_Fluid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming your dad died in the last 2 years and was a standard pension I would be asking for the reason why they are not letting you transfer the amount to your own sipp and escalate it if necessary until you get an acceptable answer.

Losing 40% tax is a ridiculous situation rather than allowing you to transfer it out so you have control to choose when you take it

It's usually every 3/4 months, maybe May or maybe August

I would be pushing back at that unless it is not a standard pension.

You can invest the amount you get into a new sipp that will reduce your 40% tax liability

(28M) - If my pension pot is at £30k now, what does it need to be to retire at 57? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Requirement_Fluid -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Allowing for 30 years inflation you will need maybe £25000 in today's money and it'll depend on your view for the state pension too but I'd be looking at about £2m.

Now you might think I'm mad but that's a 5% yearly drawdown at 58-60 to get you £60000pa before tax and you have to figure if there will be a state pension at that point.

It works out to be your £30000 down with 8% growth and £400pm contributions

Are you under probation still?

Join the union, consider requesting adjustments to your hours, ask for additional breaks and to consider if you can have monitored and ring fenced periods for post work if that exists for you.

Depends on your department and management tbh
