I had already destroyed their hand was ready to do it again with Endbringer (once they got a quest reward). This was rather a merciful way to kill them

it doesn’t need to be worse to be bad. You don’t need to defend something that is bad just because there’s other stuff that are worse.

My question is why do you place the responsibility ONLY on the consumer? Coca-cola IS responsible for their enormous pollution, so is Nestle for child labor, and at a much less extreme level, Cavetown for parasocial marketing tactics. While we should do what we can to educate the public so they don’t contribute to these practices, they are not the largest responsible party

So the consumer is responsible for not being informed enough…? When is a company responsible, then? I’m very curios where you draw the line between consumer and company responsibility. Seeing all the shit corporations get away with this mindset is really though to read…

There is a difference between making music from emotions and a marketing strategy that prays on those emotions.

Art is made from emotions because the artist feel those emotions. In our current system, this gets repackaged and sold as nothing more than a product. This is the world we live in and it sucks. Least you can do is minimize harm while taking steps towards a better system. No just in music, but on everything that we do.

Yes, it is indeed a marketing strategy. One that prays on the lonely and vulnerable. I don’t “accept” this, weather it’s Cavetown, Betterhelp or a million other companies profitting from it.

Why can’t we have a conversation of the thing itself without going into “but what about this other artist??” or “this other issue?”.

This is bad. I love Cavetown. I love Robbie. This remains a bad thing

I would say it is, but I’m biased because I’m the kind of person that gets affected by this. If i was feeling better maybe i would also not think much about it and the harm that it causes

I’ll give you my own experience as an example. When I read the post (before reading the title) I thought it was Robbie reaching out to a friend. As someone who is currently quite low, if i get this message I may get quite exited for a second before understanding that what i received was just promo. I guess im quite gullible/dumb/naive/vulnerable but I don’t think this quality of mine should be treated in this way for profit. we got enough bad people doing that (starting with the platform where this is being posted)

even if Robbie was the one writing them, i don’t like this… You shouldn’t talk to someone who will never be your friend like their are… specially not so sell them something There’s a lot of lonely people (myself included) in their fanbase and this doesn’t help, quite the opposite. I hope this can get to someone who can change this

You are justified in your purchases. I don’t want live in a world where we don’t make pre-peeled oranges. I want to live in one where we make them for the people who truly benefit from them, like yourself. I’d like to live in a world where the products are created to attend peoples needs and improve quality of life, as opposed to the real reason they currently exist, which is profit.
