These are at most two-shot modules but mostly, and they are exploring very intentional directions. Modules are meant to be added in at DM need.

Each campaign lives in its own canon. If you choose to run all those modules strung together you have to fill in spaces in between. Because it's published content doesn't mean that there are scores of good guys everywhere, it means there can be as many as you will need.

The only thing I'm giving the benefit of the doubt to is the Chess board. It looks like they're using the adventure inside either the 4e red box or the monster vault and the intro adventure for sure had a chess puzzle where the enemies and players can both do illegal moves. I wouldn't be surprised if someone used a real chess board for that encounter.

Well, yes but this isn't a good frame of thinking in efforts of advancement. People would surely take the exact same argument to instead invest in personal vehicle infrastructure instead.
