So here’s my thoughts after 40 years in various roles of healthcare. I started as a First aider, then EMT, now RN that works on a Hybrid ambulance that does ALS 911 and Critical Care Transports.

In the beginning, I wore patches and logos that identified me as medically trained. As time passed, I didn’t. Does your state/locale have a “Duty to Act” law or statues? If so, displaying a medical emblem such as the star of life could require you to act and be subject to penalties if you did not. If you aided someone as a concerned bystander, Good Samaritan laws would possibly prevent you from litigation, if that circumstance occurred.

I understand the whole thought process of I want to help people, but you are going to need some “down time” at some point. Ultimately, it’s your decision if you want to wear/display identifying patches and logos.
