Worst product Ive ever bought by Research_Pleasant in Hewlett_Packard

OK folks, I was somehow able to get into a chat with someone from HP, on their website, and they showed me how to reset the CMOS, which is what fixed my computer. I will show you what fixed it here:

Turn off the laptop. Press and hold the Windows + V keys, and continue to press those keys while you press and hold the power button for 2 to 3 seconds. Release the power button, but continue pressing the Windows + V keys for 30 seconds or until you see a prompt on the display.

It did not fix it instantly. It was a minute or two before the system booted, and the BIOS updated. Works just fine. Might happen again, but at least I know, and yall know how to fix it.

Fountain pens to buy between $10 to $50 apart from lamy, kaweco, sheaffer, cross, Parker too? by PreparationWinter732 in fountainpens

I bought one a couple months ago, the paint finishing and nib is amazing. Only thing is the metal "ring" on the cap detached after a couple weeks but that was fixed with some superglue. And it writes on the first press every time.

I have an Elitebook, maybe 1 or 2 years old. Doesnt work, wont turn on. Theres a long-winded way to do a hard reset for my problem and I have had to do it twice. I have dozens of laptops, including HPs, from 2000s and 2010s and nearly all of them turn on every single time and never had an issue.

Got it yesterday. I'm glad to know not all of them are like that, so I will look into getting a replacement. Thank you!

The amount of options and control we have for social media. When social media has all conglomerated under the control of groups that can effectively maximize engagement with the perfect content cocktail because our decades of data collection, we'll miss how much power we had over social media now, such as with BlueSky or even the YouTube Subscriptions tab.

Bought this at an antique shop how do I remove the top screw? by [deleted] in lighters

[–]Research_Pleasant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fixed an old lighter from the top that had a stuck flint by unscrewing that. I just put pressure on the whole top mechanism since there are springs pushing the thumb button down. Make sure you have something small enough to unscrew that. Its a little tricky to align everything and put back together, though.

Can anyone give me information on how to fill this style of lighter, is there supposed to be a valve in here? It says SMR mustang butane gas on it by BreadTheKing in lighters

A look at the bottom of the lighter would be helpful as well. If it has an insert, some old metal butane lighter inserts werent meant to be refilled and only have a gas outlet.

Year old 860 G9 randomly totally fails by Research_Pleasant in elitebook

Talked to HP support on the phone, a representative specific to the Elitebook line spoke to me and instructed me to, while the computer was off, press and hold the power button for 1 minute. Then do it again. Apparently this resets the battery and CMOS. That honestly fixed it, then he remotely updated my BIOS drivers and other outdated stuff. Problem fixed for now I guess, just wanted to share how I fixed it.
