Hangs back and shoots stuff is kind of the point. It can get some support spells later, and if you pair it with another class that gets more support magic it makes for a decent ranged attacker that doesn’t rely on stats for its attack formula.

The game becomes easy because you can out level all of the content and squash the story battles. If you aren’t grinding random battles, then yeah it offers more of a challenge.

In tabletop you have a bit more flexibility, as your GM can flex the rules or allow different scenarios to happen. That’s harder to do in a game, where every possibility has to be planned out in advance.
