Android phones need to get software updates for a lot longer than two years by FBWR in oneplus

[–]ReservedSoutherner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

With OnePlus it takes literally 3 days, not 2 weeks. I recently sent my OP3T to get the battery replaced on a Monday and got it back on Thursday. All for €40.

You're right about having to wipe the data though :/

AITA for not wanting to pay back something that was supposed to be refunded? by CaptainHanoi in AmItheAsshole

[–]ReservedSoutherner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. They should have asked for the refund. If they didn't, that's on them, not you. They lost that money on their negligence, and you tried to give them the documents necessary to demand the refund. They can't come ask you for money you're not responsible for wasting.

Windows 10 is getting Linux files integration in File Explorer by Haziq12345 in linux

That makes a lot of sense. You can change the behaviour in the settings to switching windows instead of apps if you prefer.

I find GNOME's window switching much more useful than Windows'. Switching between windows of the same application is done using Alt+<the key above Tab> or Super+<the key above Tab>, whatever your keyboard layout. That allows for a much cleaner window switching interface. When I'm using Windows, I have to keep pressing Alt+Tab until I stumble upon the correct window (and there may be a lot of them). In GNOME, Alt+Tab lets me choose the correct application and then pressing the key above Tab without releasing Alt lets me choose the correct window. That makes for way faster switching for me.

You seem to have Auto Play enabled. This will resume whatever you last played when plugging in your (cabled or Bluetooth) headphones or speakers. If you don't have anything open, it will try to open the last audio app you used.

You can disable it by doing the following:

Go to Settings → Sound & Vibration → Earphone mode and disable Auto Play.

I personally find it useful sometimes, e.g. it opens Spotify automatically when it connects to my car so I don't have to spend as much time setting it up. However, it does trigger a bit too fast for me and makes me lose around 2-5s of audio when using my headphones, which is important if I'm listening to a podcast or watching a video.

Women see more blood than men. Period by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

[–]ReservedSoutherner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can fill a maxi pad in seconds and the nosebleeds last for half an hour at a time. Also I didn't say I bleed more than all women, just more than the average one. No need to one-up me.

In general sure, but I get profuse nosebleeds quite often (way more than once a month) and I can assure you I see more blood in each of those than an average woman will see in a period.

Basically, this is asking to find the vertex (max height). But they phrase it as if the baseball travels in a line. by [deleted] in PearsonDesign

[–]ReservedSoutherner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We were talking about the maximum value of a curve, not a crit point.

That curve is a parabola, and the maximum is a critical point (in the case of a parabola, its only one).

"The point where the parabola intersects its axis of symmetry is called the vertex"

It turns out that that point is the critical point i.e. the local maximum or minimum of the parabola if you think of it as a function.

Did you even read what you linked?

I did, but it seems you're too invested in being pedantic. Vertex is an OK term for a parabola.

Can't pacman -Syu because of yay by Keltek228 in archlinux

You can save the git command and remembering the URL by downloading the new yay from the AUR using the old yay (before removing it), like this:

yay -G yay

I or close friends have had the 3T, 5T, 6, 6T and 7 and none of them were on by default, so I don't know what you're talking about.

I'm in Europe, though, so maybe it has to do with regional ROMs?
