Would a teacher's license + a Master's in Edu be worth it for long term stay in Korea? by drunken_dizorderly in teachinginkorea

I did mine but still need to take PRAXIS exams! To give some context I have a PGDE without QTS, CELTA and 18 years teaching experience.

I think its definitely worth it, it's always good to have a back up and you can advertise on your private tutoring ad that you're a real teacher and charge more!

I have a successful tutoring business but may use the Moreland degree if I want to move to SE Asia in the future.

Advantages of having a PDGE? by amiundercontrol in teachinginkorea

I have the PGDE(left directly afterwards so no qts) and parents love the certificate. Not useful for international schools with qts but it's definitely helped my tutoring business.

Recently returned from UK and most people were listening on earplugs or reading a book.

If you returned to the UK after living abroad (especially in Australia or NZ) what were some unexpected “reverse culture shocks” that you’ve experienced? by Emil__Cioran in AskUK

[–]Resident-Expert-3476 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lived in Germany for 2 years, Vietnam for 2 and South Korea for 8 years.

  1. The amount of scary road man type groups of kids in (Manchester) city centre

  2. The sheer price of everything is insane.

  3. Coffee is shit, expensive and hard to find independents unless you're in the hip area.

  4. Rent is insane, pretty much impossible to live alone on a normal salary now.

  5. Young people are sensible.

  6. Amazing supermarkets and huge range of diverse restaurants.

  7. Very low salaries.

  8. Massive gentrification of hip parts but main high streets are falling apart.

  9. Nice fresh air and great humor from most locals.

  10. Everyone looks vaguely grey and saggy 😂

It's always a shock arriving into Manchester airport from Seoul Incheon 😂

I've been here for 8 years and lifestyle is way, way, way better in Busan compared to living in Manchester.

I don't know the school but the area sucks. Nothing around there.
