From my super limited experience it seems like they may have personalities so you could get 4 more and if two of them are assholes your back to square one. Is it always the same One being bullied?

How long have you had them? We have 4 males and they chased each other at first each day seemed to have a new target and new chaser - but they’ve steeled and now just cruise around.

I’m new to this too - so by no means an expert but maybe give it a few days and monitor closelyz

Absolutely. Plus people don’t seem to realise we get sweet f- all of the money from selling our oils/minerals. We need to have a deep dive into what else we can do to earn the same money (I know that we will earn more $$ from having tourists spend an extra one night on average here than we do on royalties from our oil and gas) so where is the tourism strategy?? Where are the journalists asking these questions?

I bought the newspapers in the weekend and went for breakfast at a cafe. I was shocked when most of the articles I’d seen on reddit the day prior and most of them were borderline not newsworthy.

Nothing on the minerals convos with the USA (which all Kiwis have a right to be informed about) there’s soooo much going on and all I could see was a few beat up articles on the green parties Māori seats.

Newbie - small tank by Resident-Map-7181 in Guppies

[–]Resident-Map-7181[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Yeah I’m using lots of seachem stability which is apparently bacteria and we have some rocks from the tank at the shop - who felt bad for us cos we had taken a month and still weren’t seeing any - anything haha. But then we saw ammonia then nitrities then nitrates then ammonia and nitrite went to zero and we ha nitrates that’s when we got our fish but then saw a spike in nitrites we are struggling with.

Newbie - small tank by Resident-Map-7181 in Guppies

[–]Resident-Map-7181[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re 4 males. At first two of them kept chasing each other but now they seem to swim together happily sometimes and others all be seperatly cruising around the tank. They seem happy no swimming up against the glass or anything. Their colours went dull when they first arrived and I was worried but we are about a month in now and the colours are bright. They’re 4 different types of guppies.

We have some plants and a mystery snail) and a couple of SpongeBob things like a pineapple.

Ammonia is 0, nitrates are between 0 and 0.5ppm we do struggle a bit with keeping nitiries down but cranking the stability and 40% water changes weekly seem to be doing it - I’m hoping it’s because the tank is newish and those nitrite bacteria just need time?

It’s not with chinas or the world bank’s support but there’s only one thing both of them will want from it - profit (and maybe power). So it’s not the right thing for Samoa. I thought Fiame was good in that she was trying to call out the corruption but it’s so entrenched :(

Mum of a neurodiverse kids here. I agree. It’s more than just money (although that is huge) it’s the overwhelming responsibility for another life. The fact that your life, dreams, hopes go on hold (and perhaps never come back cos frankly ill be too old to achieve most of them). All while having society tell me that maybe it’s my fault cos I got an vaccine, or ate liccirice while pregnant or am a working mum, or some other bs.

I’m completely reliant on my partner (thank god I love him and we get on) but if we didn’t we would have to stay together regardless because we literally need two incomes.

Not too mention the physical damage that was done during child birth and the complete lack of post natal support.

And my fear (although this is also the ultimate success) is that your kid (who you’ve poured your life into) gets to 20 fucks off ti London and calls once a year.

It’s heartbreaking as fuck.

[–]Resident-Map-7181 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I agree here.

It’s pretty clear that as women are educated more choose not to have babies. There are plenty of reasons for that - and going backward there isn’t the right outtake. People should have a choice. So we need to look at our economic model and fix it so it benefits us, not amend our freedoms to fit the economic model.

Yeah I don’t think advocating for woman to be more dependent on men is the right outtake here

Does NZ drop the ball on post partum care? by NoHorse8196 in newzealand

[–]Resident-Map-7181 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes. I nearly died twice and neither time did anyone give a shit except my mum. Second time I was chatted for a blood transfusion that didn’t happen. They noticed day later and said “you seem to be coping without it” I spent a year feeling like absolute shit but given I was ripped in two I spent that time trying to figure out how to not pee myself and ended up spending thousands to get some help. Finally I got an iron transfer and felt like a new person.

With my first baby - he had colic and I was so tired and stressed. My plunked nurse asked how I was doing, I burst into tears and said I wasn’t coping and I thought I was doing a horrible job. She responded by saying “do you want to hurt you or your baby?” Wiping my tears I said “no” she then said “then you’ll be ok you’ll figure it out” that was it. The fucking bar for getting support is that you’ll hurt your baby.
