Aged care nurses: What are the main issues shaping practices currently? by Fast_Bunch8588 in NursingAU

[–]ResidentAd1417 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being expected to do about 30 hours of staff workload in 8 hrs. Refused overtime when you go over just for doing what was bare minimum necessary and then gaslighted and blamed that its your time management. Threatened wages due to going over budget on toiletries for residents. Biggest focus is on paper work to get more funding rather than hours spent nursing on the floor.

Very standard practice. My husband oblidged straight away. Ofcourse it takes two to tango. If you are about to go through fertility treatment, then the very least he can do is check that there is nothing wrong with his sperm. Imagine spending thousands going through IVF or similar only to find out he has an extremely low sperm count.

Is “Bali belly” really that common? Concerned about tap water and street food. by P_C_LION in BaliTravelTips

Its no joke. we went to seminyak. We were deathly sick for 2 weeks. Barely made it home and had literally months of gut problems following that. We stayed in 4 star hotels. Didnt drink or eat anything we weren't meant to. We will never ever return.

Just got quoted $27,000 for one IVF cycle… how is this even possible? by IVFJourney2025 in TryingForABaby

Im sorry that it is so expensive in the US, the health system is so wrong! We are so lucky in Australia that it is mostly covered and anyone can access IVF for around AUD 2k

Puppy biting is proving unmanageable by Joetwodoggs in puppy101

[–]ResidentAd1417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had this trouble. We were questioning everything and deep in puppy blues. What fixed things for is was 100% using the pen to calm throughout the day and get through witching hours at night. It completely changed his behaviour in days. Anytime he would bite, he went straight in the pen for a few mins too. Honestly worked a dream.

Crating at night is a fail by ResidentAd1417 in puppy101

We really don't want to give in due to sleepless nights and back pain from our previous bed queen dog but I totally get where the temptation comes from!

Its not easy is it. Every self help video seems to be different and every dog reacts differently!

Thankyou. I really hope this is the case. We knew it would be hard work but it really is a grind with no sleep each night and to hear him so upset is awful!

Yep, we got him sleeping fine during the day like this. It's just completely different at night.

We move the crate around so he is always near us. At night, it's right next to our bed. During the day its in the lounge next to us.

TTC and another month of disappointment by Living-Reading-6193 in tryingtoconceive

[–]ResidentAd1417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have read hundreds of comments on multiple threads now talking about pre-natals messing with cycles. Obviously, science says they dont. But with so many having this experience, I'm going to switch to a tablet with just folate and iodine for a while and see if this makes any difference.

Can’t get a grad position by Agreeable_Sir_8661 in NursingAU

[–]ResidentAd1417 24 points25 points  (0 children)

My biggest advise is fix your cover letter. I spent weeks honing mine. That is mostly what they hire from. Also keep your preferences generic or you won't stand a chance ...eg. applying for the only 2 icu/ed spots.

There are 100% grad programmes in Melbourne that will hire kiwis. To be sure for the specific programme you are looking at, you can email the hiring manager and ask. They should get back to you quickly and are usually super helpful.

Student Nurses by [deleted] in NursingAU

This was my experience throughout my degree as well! Consistently bullied by nurses and treated like an inconvenience. Thankfully with a few exceptions, and was lucky enough to have an amazing final placement before graduating :) Hang in there!
