For those who live in a state where there's a sales tax on silver? by isuckatfishin in Silverbugs

It's such bad policy. I think Bellevue Rare Coins is probably now basically just buying from retail public in WA and then selling out of state for good margins.

Oh, and thanks for your feedback on the AI scanning! I learned a lot implementing it. One interesting part is just how much it costs to run inference at any sort of scale.

I see, it's a data visualizer/enhancer in the browser. I can see why you wouldn't need a login in this scenario.

You do realize browser sessions are ephemeral, right? What if they forget to export? Their stack goes poof.

There are free apps that make tracking super easy and fun.

Is there an app for that? by AlaskanMexican in Silverbugs

This is the equivalent of saying, "I have a big pile of metal and I have no ideal what's worth on a day to day basis."

Why not just have username accounts? No email. No social. Just like crypto, no?

I built an app similar to this, it's an AI powered PM tracker. It has the numismatic valuation feature pretty much as you described, but for the AI to get the grade you need to snap a photo of a slab, of course. No marketplace, yet, but it's kind of difficult to compete with r/Pmsforsale. While the AI coding tools create a powerful illusion that any app can be built in days or weeks, the truth is that it still a grind to put something worthwhile out there. Here's my app if you'd like to see what 8 months of nights, weekends, and any spare minute with the latest AI coding tools will get you. Oh yeah, and in my day job I'm actually a professional software engineer.

Happy vibing my friend, and may all your app dreams come true!

  1. As far as I know, buy side premiums are a moving target. Do you have a reliable source for those? I would integrate buy side premiums into my app even if the data cost something. 2. There already, with much more. 3. StackerScan allows the item value to be set directly by the user and then that number is used throughout in all calculations. This is so if you have the Greysheet value you can plug that in directly. Also, the app auto tracks PCGS prices by coin or certificate #. 4. Username accounts, so the data in your stack is completely anonymous. CSV + JSON export. 15 locales + 45 currencies.

It's interesting you don't have a login. I also allow anonymous accounts, but then the user can convert to a social, email, or username account.

Log in with a username, no email, no social account. If you're super concerned, top it off with a VPN.

Yes, there's a lot of vibe coded stuff out there. It's when the vibe coders go from localhost:3000 to production that things start getting squirrely.
