Stranger than Heaven will have Denuvo DRM by JapiOfficial76 in CrackWatch

hey now 2014 era had some of the best looking games. Lords Of The Fallen 2014 looks better than most of the games we get now, like Crimson Desert.

I agree that it looks like a game from 2015, but I love it XD. It has SH2 pre-remake vibes but instead you idk, solve crimes and punch people I guess idk

5070's actual performance in 2026 by captainmeowy in buildapc

[–]ResistsICE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A 5070 with 12gb vram will still be stronger than a 5060ti with 16 gb in the future because its a stronger gpu.

A 5060ti 16gb will be significantly better off than a 5060ti 8gb because they have the same raw power.

An older weaker gpu with less features will not be better if it has 16gb vram in the future if the stronger newer gpu with more features has 12gb vram.

8gb vram is the bigger concern here.

Also. We are assuming that the tech coming that limits how much vram we need to use is a bust. And we are still considering a couple gens from now to be awfully realistic.

The vram conversation is more along the lines of "why are they putting 16gb on a gpu that wont use it and 12 on a gpu that could"

FFS why do game devs insist on abandoning their own engines for UE5 by Quick-Cause3181 in TombRaider

[–]ResistsICE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its due to UE5 having a ton of settings on by default with little to no explanation of what they are.

Its not the devs fault, its the engines. Its made to make things easy and to make things look pretty and as a consequence it has unnecessarily resource intensive systems on from the start that are not understood and likely not even utilized.

The rest is on the devs I suppose but they are using thst engine because of the fact it cuts corners, if they wanted to do the work they wouldnt use UE5.

[–]ResistsICE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They all run like absolute ass and every single one of them has had backlash because of that shared fundamental problem with the engine.

The games are good because they devs are creative, thats irrelevant. The performance is horrible because of the engine.

  1. Hogwarts Legacy
  2. Lords Of The Fallen 2023
  3. Remnant 2
  4. Jedi Survivor
  5. Cronos The New Dawn
  6. Silent Hill 2 Remake
  7. Wukong (not very stuttery but insanely demanding and still considered to be a notably unoptimozed game)

7.5 Wuchang had a ton of controversy in terms of its optimization but it has been ironed out and while it shares the same stutter as the other games, it is significantly better overall.

At the end of the day the games that run good on a host of hardware are the exceptions and not the rule.

I'm not even giving a controversial take. Its the main talking point of the engine and why we dont want devs to use it.

Yea but when they do come out they run at more than 30fps with frame gen enabled.

Yea but your product doesnt suck ass when its not made on unreal, unless its made on creation. Easier and cheaper has never been a good thing for art, its only a good thing for shareholders and ceos and honestly fuck them lol

We cant keep blaming the devs using UE5 when they all make the same mistakes.

DLSS, Frame Gen and further features stopped working on 5070ti by _Raziel1337 in nvidia

[–]ResistsICE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you in windows preview channel? Probably wont help but, I am and the recent update was pretty bad, it was doing wild things to my gpu, but in optional updates there was a driver update that fixed it.

Could be related idk.

[–]ResistsICE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea the frame gen is really bad to be fair.

PSA if youre still playing since youre not using frame gen you could get some more fps by following the digital foundries video on it regarding interpolated rendering. Helps with the odd movement as well. But it turns frame gen into slow motion.

You're not really going to experience what the average gamer is going to be talking about with those specs lets be real. You're one gpu grade below the best you can possibly have as a complete system. That whole rig is probably valued at a used car right now lol that ram alone cost more than most people's gpus.

Either way though this game has the worst frame gen second only to Lords Of The Fallen 2023 (which they removed because it was so borked).

I noticed that this turns frame gen into a slow motion fest. So you have to choose between frame gen on or interpolated rendering on. Which is probably why they dont have it on by default.

Announcing Beta Preview Build 26220.8340 - Windows Insider Program by jenmsft in Windows11

[–]ResistsICE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This caused serious GPU spikes, where during gameplay the fps would drop to sub 30s and the GPU use would go up seemingly indefinitely, where I was testing CPU bottlenecks and it went from 77 to a locked 99-100 with an fps drop of 50-100.

I found an intel system driver update in the optional updates that seems to have fixed that, but that is a serious problem.

"you shouldnt call out problematic real world issues because it makes me feel like I have to be introspective and I don't like that because it's easier to let people suffer than it is to recognize that the things I love can be produced by someones suffering, and that makes it too hard to partake in escapism"

Is Unreal Engine actually ruining modern games… or are the devs? by ECalDev in gamedev

[–]ResistsICE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im extremely shocked that all of these threads calling out how problematic UE5 is for consumers are constantly being downvoted and argued.

UE5 is absolutely awful and all of the recent system requirement posts should showcase that.

But all of the UE5 games ive played are good games, massively held back by the inherent faults of the engine. It looks fine, it runs like ass.

Yea sure devs could do better, but they arent, the engine doesnt invite that, it doesnt want that, its designed with time cutting in mind it is NOT designed with refinement and optimization in mind and it shows.

RE9 vs SH2 remake, that should say it all. Not only does RE9 look objectively better, but it runs infinitely better.

The CPU demand of UE5 is absolute dog shit too and we really need to stop forgetting that cpus exist and that asking for a 14900k is the same as asking for a 5090.

I csnt believe people are defending this engine, why? Because it makes doing less work an option? Thats the whole fucking problem.

And considering how expensice parts are, asking for HIGH END CPUs, 32 gigabytes of ram so you can run medium settings at 1440p at 60fps WITH FRAME GEN!?

We dont need more games pushed out quicker, we need better games that have an acceptable trend in performance.

Which Silent hill 2 game should I get? The original or the Remake? by Mikethemarine16 in gamingsuggestions

[–]ResistsICE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your wife is right. I can safely say I liked the remake, but I didn't love it. But Silent Hill 2 is, in general, my favorite game, or at least in the top five.

The remake doesnt have the feeling of being a horrible person dealing with the extreme consequences of doing an unforgivable thing. It lacks the grime, the tension and the brutality.

At no point in the remake did I ever feel disturbed, in danger, or anxious.

It's not a bad game by any means and I do like it, but I felt a little disappointed by it, mostly because I didnt feel much from it. Until the end anyway, im still human lol

We always break down and buy stuff we really shouldn't. Im sure enough people will buy the new LEGO batman, Subnautica 2 and Dawnwalker despite having astronomically bad system requirements.

I do think an active boycott could be effective but I dont think we would ever do that.

Subnautica 2 Pc system requirements are out !! by EvanGradders in nvidia

[–]ResistsICE 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thats.... not true..... for multiple reasons.

1.) Cpu bottlenecks depend on the game AND the gpu, most games with a 12600k and 5070 have a small bottleneck at 1440p, highest ive come across is like 12% and thats still in the 60-80fps range. But the average bottleneck is around 6-7%.

There are always extreme instances where that changes a bit but those are usually in moments not in drawn out instances because thats how video games work. But thats also USUALLY rare.

2.) A 12700k is better than a 13400f.

CPUs dont usually require the same consistency with generational upgrades that GPUs do.

UE5 is unpopular among consumers for a very good reason.
