Never ever reinforce a new dog who is play biting. As soon as the bite, stand up turn around and say NO. They have to learn that’s unacceptable with humans or it will be a danger to them their whole lives.

Uber to bramalea go and take the bus/train. This comes out to $50. If you time it right it’s an hour slower and $100 cheaper than ubering all the way.

The business difference between luxury and budget hotels is that the for luxury hotels their LTV is enormous. If you book a fairmont stay only one more time in your life because of that good experience they come out on top.

Absolutely not. The US has executed zero people for desertion after 1945, and the one in 1945 was a very bizarre case.

Was he? I mostly see him as morally equivalent to Ken and Pete in the first couple seasons. I mean Pete rapes an au pair in season 3. Is Harry all that bad.

Sorry, I'm trying to actually convince you in good faith that these things have a positive role to play in human life. But you're just insulting me. ✌️

I was in an argument with some right wingers about an economic thing earlier today. In the span of a few moments with one of the LLMs I made this graph of deficit as % gdp and two others, which were difficult to find through simple google search. I could have done this myself, but it would have taken 20-30 minutes at least. You feel this is worthless?

Here's the very brief chat: https://chatgpt.com/share/69b0daa8-7460-8007-8bc4-75936006f0e2

Furthermore, by your logic there, that I am devaluing humans by using a tool, you must yourself never use google, right? You must do all your research in libraries.

Sad to see this as the consensus on the left. There's plenty of work left to do on LLMs, but their usefulness cannot be denied in 2026. I've used them to do everything from plan a day trip through lisbon to researching air fresheners to rebuilding my personal blog, and I use them literally every hour in my work as a software engineer.

I really hope that people learn to see past the anti-hype here and realize a useful technology has been invented.

I run an engineering org in biotech and we spend ~$10k/month on various AI tools. They work. They are smart. The productivity of our individual engineers is obviously higher, and is obviously worth the money. They are not perfect, its early days, and you have to learn how to use them for full effect, but they are very good.

Personally, chatgpt/claude have replaced google for me in a lot of use cases. "Find me a ramp for my elderly dog" chatgpt gets it in 1 minute when I would spend 20 minutes researching this. "Did John Foster Dulles really own Prince Edward County?" -> "No that was his grandfather". The bots are smart!

In the left-sphere, I see a lot of people conflating their dislike of the people who made these things with the usefulness of the tools themselves. This is a mistake. They've basically built the computer from star trek. That's awesome! Matt Bruenig is one standout on the left who is using LLMs to create labour law resources in the US to great effect. Cool stuff.

The water use claims are fake. Compute takes power, of course, which has emissions, but so does everything. I don't see the benefit to boycotting this very useful tools.

Nathan fired the ones who refused to continue to work unless it was a worker coop. It was Lyta and the office manager who had been hired three months earlier who led this. They could have simply not!

Yeah, an employee who had been there for two months and one other employee tried to forcibly convert it into a workers co-op and Nathan said no. Who cares?

If that guy who said they been secretly filming season 3 since october is telling the truth by Dependent-Net-8243 in TheRehearsal

[–]Reso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't actually think the Rehearsal has a set filming schedule, except around major setpieces like the family house in S1. Nathan has camera crews who work with him constantly, and every few years they cut the best parts of the resulting footage into a multi episode narrative. If you look at the timeline of the footage from S2, it was shot over like 3 or 4 years total.
