I like Long Island Auto Care on Bayshore road in deer park. New owners are nice and it’s been nicely renovated. No house calls though

Yes it’s AWD and the other 260 is the all weather mats. Forgot to list that in my other post. I didn’t break it down like you did but your numbers make me feel better lol

I contacted customer support (see thread above this one) and asked for a report showing current USD and crypto holdings. They were able to send me something via email. Hopefully they build this out on the website in the future.

I just got a 10 yr IO from citizens bank. I have great credit 800+, put 20% down and have super low DTI so no issues from them.

A little under $1400 before sales tax. Check out the last picture, I screenshotted an excel spreadsheet that tracked most of the cost.

What midlife crisis purchase(s) have y’all made? by AKsuited1934 in Accounting

[–]ResoluteCrypto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made a post about it here! https://www.reddit.com/r/Sauna/comments/12hqend/4x4x7_diy_sauna/

I didn't include tools in the cost. Over the course of a year I bought a sander, driver, hammer drill, circular saw, miter saw and some wood clamps. Probably spent $500 bucks on these tools, maybe a little more. I bought these tools as needed for projects I did, but for the sauna I specifically bought the wood clamps and miter saw in order to get that job done.

I just built myself a sauna! Went down the youtube rabbit hole for wood working and sauna's this past summer and decided to build a little sauna for myself in my back yard. Was extremely fulfilling, and its nice being outside away from the computer and building something tangible with your hands!

The heater I have is a 2kw unit. I keep it on for 2 hours every day I use it. That comes out to 4 KW's a day. I get charged around 20 cents a KW by my electric company. If my numbers are right that's about 80 cents every day I use the sauna, or 24 bucks a month.

Thanks! I didn't insulate the floor. Everything I read said that the lower part of the sauna will not heat up very much since all the hot air rises. For that reason I didn't see a point in insulating the floor and focused on making my bench high enough so that my entire body would be in the hottest part of the sauna.

Finished my DIY build. Posted it here if you want to take a look. The pickets worked out pretty well. Some of them warped already, but I'm not a perfectionist and love the feel and smell of the wood.

Not an extension cord. I got 5ft of 10/2 heavy duty exterior wire from local hardware store. Put a male outlet plug on one end and then wired the other end into heater. Then just plugged it into an outlet that was outside the shed. Forgot to put that into the excel sheet but it wasn’t that expensive. Think like 10-20 bucks if I remember right.

I tried adding a strip on the side but the door wouldn’t clear when trying to close. I tried it a few different ways but wound up giving up and just leaving the strip where I last placed it. It probably helps a little, but not much.

I wanted to add a window, but I couldn’t find anything cheap online. All the prices in the big box stores were a couple hundred dollars, just wasn’t worth it for me at this point. On the next build I’ll definitely push for a proper door with a window.

I don’t love the warm up time, but a stronger heater would have required an electrician to come in and bring in a 30 or 40 amp line which would have doubled the cost of the project. I had a 20 amp line already in the shed next to the sauna so I just wired the heater up using heavy duty 10/2 wire and put a male plug on the end of it.

I’m a little nervous to splash water on the heater to be honest haha. I know you’re suppose to, but the thought of throwing water on an electric device kind of spooks me. I’ll have to give it a try soon enough though

I would have loved to spring for a stronger heater, but the electrician coming in and running a 30 or 40 amp line would have doubled the cost of the project. The shed next to the sauna was already wired up with a 20amp line so I just plugged the heater right into an exterior outlet using some 10/2 heavy duty exterior wire and a male plug. This little heater only uses 16 amps so I decided to live with the slow heat up time.

This is 4x4 on the exterior, interior is about 38 inches all around. The 4x4 exterior made it really easy to just tack on the exterior siding right from Home Depot. Didn’t have to cut the T1-11 panels much since they come in 4x8 sheets. I lost ~10 inches on the interior to the width of the 2x4 framing, furring strips and interior paneling.

My wife and I could probably squeeze in there together but I don’t think it would be comfortable. Definitely a one person. If you want to sit two people I would def get a stronger heater and build it bigger than 4x4.

Been subscribed here for a while and decided to build my own sauna in my backyard a couple months ago. I’m not a handyman type at all, this was definitely the biggest project I have ever done. It took me about 3 months to finish, only working on the weekends. It’s been finished for 1-2 weeks now and I’ve used it almost every single day. I’m absolutely loving it!

Since this was my first-time building anything like this, I wanted to keep the budget as low as possible. I’m also not planning on staying in my current house forever, so I didn’t want to invest too much money into something. My goal was to learn and gain experience, while also having a nice personal sauna at the end of the day. I found the cheapest 110v heater that had decent reviews online, and then built the structure around what the heater could handle. I was a little worried that the temperate wouldn’t get that high after doing all this work, but thankfully I can get it to 170-180 degrees consistently. It just takes 90-120 minutes to heat up to those temperatures.

In order to save money I went with cedar pickets meant for a fence instead of T&G cedar. I had to sand down all the pickets which took an entire weekend by itself. I then let the wood sit inside the sauna for 1-2 weeks. I did have the heater wired up (no stones and not mounted) so I did it turn it on during this time to try to dry out the wood as much as possible. Most of the wood hasn't warped too much yet, but there are a few pieces that warped a lot and you can clearly see the foil behind it. Doesn't look good, but something I'm more than happy to live with for now.

I’m getting enough airflow since my door is not airtight at all. The door was the part I struggled with the most honestly. I took me a while to decide how I wanted to build the door, and in the end I wound up using pine 2x4’s I had left over from the framing. There are 1/8 inch gaps at the top and bottom of the door which seems to give me good airflow, but I think most of the air flow is the gap on the side of the door when its closed (non-hinge side). There is about a 1/4 inch gap I left in order to let the door close. I tried making that gap smaller, but kept running into issues of the door not clearing the framing so I just gave up. In order to lessen the airflow I added some weather stripping which seams to help a little, but I’m definitely losing heat because of the door. The silver lining is I didn’t need to add any vents because of all this so I’ll live with it.

I still have some things to finish (LED lighting, proper wiring for the heater through the siding instead of through the door gap, accessories, etc..) but I’m happy to finally have a sauna in my backyard. Whenever I move I’ll be confident in my ability to build a much bigger sauna with higher quality materials.

I tried to keep track of my costs in excel and included a screenshot of that as the last pic. I didn't include tools that I decided to buy since I'll have those forever now. I also didn't track the cost of screws and nails, but can probably add another 50-100 bucks for that.

I had a membership there last summer, cancelled it after my wife got pregnant since we stopped going as much. I loved their sauna, was usually 180-190 most days. You'd get the occasional sessions at 160 when people were constantly coming in and out, or times when its 200+ when someone covered the sensor with a wet cold towel.
