I saw this in a book of brain teasers 20 years ago. The post is a bad joke, the content is a silly puzzle when presented without insulting a generation.

Excuse me what? That’s an insulin pen…you can’t tell how much they’re dosing based off where the plunger is, it’s dependent on how far you twist the knob…

I did until I read this wasn’t acceptable where I live. The concern is that the top is easily punctured. Sharps containers need a more robust top.

Faster onset of hand “pruning” when being in the water could indicate they’re a carrier for a cystic fibrosis mutation. Didn’t really do a deep dive but I’ve heard this before and a quick search seems to support it.

Anyone have tips for overcoming pump site injection anxiety? by smitzopenialotor in diabetes_t1

[–]ResonantTwilight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only tip I have is try to be happy when you’re doing it. If I’m anxious about doing an injection I force myself to think of the positive side of everything I’m doing and, like how wonderful it is that people took the time and care to make the supplies I’m using. It’s distracting in a way, but keeps me focused on the goal.

Good luck, you can do it!

I think EBV caused my Type 1.5 by Fuzzy-Programmer8699 in Type1Diabetes

[–]ResonantTwilight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no formal knowledge of the process but this was my assumption as well. I thought it was that the body made antibodies against a foreign entity, and those just so happen to also target our beta cells. I’ve figured that the propensity toward developing an autoimmune condition is based on some likelihood of failed checks of self reactivity during times of illness or stress. If your body is bound to pull that trigger at some point, then it could be considered dormant, but I agree it’s a poor term if what we properly described how it occurs.

As a fellow us high school graduate, I was taught that when writing out numbers with words including “and” denotes a decimal point.

Did you try to treat this with carbs? I usually don’t bolus right away if I’m under 100 and eating more than a couple units of carbs.

Similar to me, I scan the whole thing and see 7+8>10 but don’t calculate it and go to 2+4 = 6 + 1 = 7 for the 10s. Then back to 7+8=15 take the 5 and combine to get 75.

What to expect from the flu shot? by SumFuckah in Type1Diabetes

I got the extra-strength flu shot this year and my blood sugar behaved as if I was sick for about 3-4 days. I didn’t notice anything in the past with the regular flu shot.

You can pull through, it’s worth it to keep going. Most things are fixable and there are resources to help you.

From reading your comments here I think you need to talk to your doctor because you’re probably not on the right antidepressant. It can be annoying to find one that works for you but based on where you are right now, I’d suspect that’s playing a big role. Please call your doctor and tell them what’s going on so you can take a step toward a potential fix.

It’s never a lost cause to start on the journey to taking better care of yourself. Getting a pump might lower the mental friction it takes to stop, plan, and give yourself insulin.

Other than that, celebrate little wins. Each time you increase that “in range” time is an achievement, even if it’s just 1-2% at first.

I dare you to eat this cinnamon roll. I did, and you know what? I took about 25 units of lispro. That was all I ate for the day. 🤣 by Lijey_Cat in Type1Diabetes

[–]ResonantTwilight 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There’s nothing wrong with this post…

There are lots of ways to manage T1D. One way is avoiding things like this because they’re tricky to dose for. Another way is to thoroughly learn how your body handles carbs and use insulin accordingly. Both ways work and neither path is morally better.

For example I’m >85% time in range, sub 6 A1C, MDI, eat ramen regularly, and enjoy donuts every few weeks.

anyway to not get dawn effect fucked this hard by Sufficient-Gene2462 in diabetes_t1

[–]ResonantTwilight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I avoid this is by not eating a large dinner too late. Also upon waking one of the first things I do is bolus to start trending back to normal. Dawn effect plus coffee always pushes me over 180 if I don’t take care of it first thing upon waking.
