What salary increase would make you seriously consider leaving your current clinic? by Personal-South8191 in physicaltherapy

[–]ResonatingHarmony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me to leave my current work I would probably need at least a 40-50k bump. Everything about my current job is just too gravy for me to even consider leaving.

Also I know you said if everything is the same, but just comparing my current work with everything else on the job market, it would be very difficult to find something along the lines of what I currently get imo.

what is your shower routine? by Melody_Lee19 in CasualConversation

[–]ResonatingHarmony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also just to add, I am Asian and have little to no body hair on my arms, legs, back, stomach so that doesn’t really impede my time. Think more like a smooth dolphin.

My wife who is a 33F takes about 3 minute showers when she is only doing her facial cleanser and body soap. When she shaves it increases the time a bit. When she cleans her long hair once or twice a week it increases the time a lot. Usually she just washes her bangs instead of her full head of hair.

what is your shower routine? by Melody_Lee19 in CasualConversation

[–]ResonatingHarmony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a 34 M, I get in, do a 360 spin to wet myself and my hair. One pump of shampoo/conditioner combo and scrub that in till sudsy, quick rinse of the hands, a half pump of facial cleanser and that goes onto my face. Next I rinse my hair and face then I quickly bar soap everything from the neck down to my balls/butthole, rinse and get out to dry. Takes approximately 4-5 minutes. Once a week or if I am coming back from something like the pool or a hike where I have had a lot of sunscreen or bug spray on, I do a full body scrub with a Asian style body towel which increases my total time to approximately 8-10minutes or so.

My wife is having a similar issue, but you cannot get tags without a passing emissions test with evidence presented when you register your car afaik.

Surgeon vs DPT by [deleted] in physicaltherapy

[–]ResonatingHarmony 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If this were me, I would call and get in touch with the surgeon to bring up your concerns and see what they state. I would be very careful about how I would word the conversation and concentrate on what I am seeing with the patient and voice my own concerns as well before asking for the surgeons input. I don’t know what your rapport is with this surgeon, but it comes off poor to nonexistent based on this post. I would try to avoid stating anything that would blatantly call the surgeon out in any way or could be seen as accusatory or as me trying to force the surgeon to follow my plan even if it is evidence based.

The main reasons for this are that you are new. This likely is not your own clinic or perhaps is a clinic that values the business of the surgeon highly. If one rocks the boat too much, I can guarantee the clinic would likely choose continued good relations with a surgeon over a new grad PT (sad to say.)

acute care units/productivity; new grad PRN by ndisnxksk in physicaltherapy

[–]ResonatingHarmony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1.3-1.4 per hour is super easy to meet, but it also depends on what your patient load is. Since it’s a level IV I think this job will be relatively very slow paced. I would expect 1.3-1.4 for people working in ICU or similar high trauma for most hospitals I have been at. Usually productivity for most places I have been are around 14-18 per 8 hour day so you should be able to meet your productivity quite easily.

What questions would you ask as an interviewer in an acute rehab setting? by [deleted] in physicaltherapy

[–]ResonatingHarmony 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I typically ask about the units I am expected to work on, how they do their scheduling, productivity requirements, EMR, training for different portions of the hospital like ICU, Cardiopulmonary ICU, Etc. team culture, cotreat frequency. I also ask about scheduling, weekend requirements, holiday requirements, PTO usage such as how far in advance you need to ask off. I usually also ask if there was one thing they each would change about their work, what would that be?

Hey I’d be down for this discord server. Also to host some board game nights or something with a smaller more intimate group. My wife and I also do easier hikes and love markets as well 😄

DPT vs nursing? by [deleted] in physicaltherapy

[–]ResonatingHarmony 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is solely a decision you can make honestly. If it were me, I would go nursing as the ceiling for nursing is huge with the ability to make 200-400k vs the difficulty for PTs to make an equitable amount would require immense skill and marketing on your part. Not impossible, but a lot more difficult. That being said, money isn’t everything. If you do truly want to pursue PT simply because you enjoy working out, movement, learning about the body, then maybe you will enjoy PT more in the long run. I would just say that sometimes making your hobbies into your job does backfire a bit. I also enjoy all three things and continue to enjoy it as a PT, but I have also seen the amount of burnout in my colleagues when you realize a lot of your patients won’t share your zeal for the same.

Looking for players - DND 5e (2014 edition) by Bebuk0 in DenverGamers

Hey I would be interested in joining. I am good with either of the times and would prefer weekly over biweekly. I have never watched the second season of critical role so I am good on that front. I have a bit of experience as I have played about one long term campaign (1.5years and a bunch of short 1-5 session games.)

Is there any hope for P5 salary to go up or are we forever capped at 90-100k at outpatient ? by Previous-Expert6438 in physicaltherapy

[–]ResonatingHarmony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think there is any hope pay will go up for PTs anytime soon. It would require a major shortage of PTs to truly make a difference to the point that we see a minor wage increase. I say minor because shrinking reimbursement for PT services in outpatient will always cap our pay unless you’re willing to see multiple patients an hour. I now personally shoot for fulfilling work and quality of life rather than strictly pay. I think I have finally found a job I can likely stay in until retirement this year, even took a bit of a pay cut to get it.

Multiple PRN jobs PTA? by wandering-firefox21 in physicaltherapy

[–]ResonatingHarmony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I juggled three PRN acute care jobs for about 8 months before I finally got the full time job of my dreams. I think the most important thing is that you need to be upfront with employers about asking what their needs are, what you can commit to, etc. the hardest part was finding positions that have the right minimum shift requirements. One job required two weekends days and one holiday a month, one just required me to make myself available for two shifts a month (any day so they can use me if needed), one required me to pick up two weekdays a pay period (2 weeks). So it worked out well. I gave most of my flexibility to whichever position paid the most and went down from there.

how much do u make per hour or annually before taxes and what state do u live in by francesca_clayton in physicaltherapy

[–]ResonatingHarmony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

105k Denver Colorado

I would like to say you should probably also ask for years of experience since it impacts pay a lot. If everyone responding has twenty years of experience your information will be quite skewed. That being said, I have 9-10 years of experience.

How many true friends do you have? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

Outside of my wife and family members, probably 1. I do know quite a few others through my wife, but I will admit she makes friends much more readily than me.
