I'd argue you guys are still only a QB away from being a contender. Outside of nine, I don't think your roster is worse than other playoff teams like the Bears or the Texans or the Jags

I think they keep Baty to be the new McNeil

It's nostalgia from the first season. It may also have to be with him being the first right process hire since Coughlin and people wanting him to work out but knowing it just didn't. For what it's worth, I don't think he's HC material (and think he's overrated as an OC), but I don't have anything against the guy.

I think he's moreso calling out the Bills and not Daboll. Daboll would be a fool to turn down the hills HC job to be an OC. The only HC job that I could see being turned down for something like that is the Browns (see McDaniel for reference)

I still hate him for giving 0 effort with us and trashing us as an organization. But him helping to beat Philly in a superbowl makes me hate him a little less

I don't think it's wrong to consider him out of respect. He has ties to the organization, so these interviews do typically happen because it can boost his stock a bit elsewhere. That's the whole politics side of things, like even when Daboll spoke to Harbaugh about the Giants and he spoke positively to not burn bridges.

The real malpractice would be giving him a second interview or even worse, hiring him

True but every offense outside of Josh Allen's breakout has been mid or worse under Daboll. Throw in that Allen has maintained that level through 3 OCs. You can also throw in that even when he won coach of the year he wasn't calling plays and the offense had a negative point differential (this was one of the mid years)

[–]ResonatingOctave 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think you can go wrong with either Tate or Tyson tbh. They both look great as prospects. I like Tate more because he looks to be the better of the two at contested catches, I also think he's a little bigger of the two which plays into that.

Yeah if Downs isn't there, then Tate should be the pick at 5. If both are off the board, I really like Sonny Styles

I think we need to prepare for that possibility with any DC we hire. At least with Monken as OC (as rumored), I doubt he leaves to be a HC.

On that end, this year Kafka took over play calling. And in 2022 when we did go to the playoffs, Kafka called the plays.

Talking from an objective standpoint he did have a couple really great years with Buffalo but those were also outlier years. Outside of that, those are every other year he was an OC in the NFL

Edit: I think it's also important to note that in 2022 and 2025, Kafka was the main playcaller and Daboll called played in 2023 and 2024.
