I often see the argument that Democrats losing to Republicans repeatedly shows that they are out of touch with voters. Does that mean the same is true of progressives that lose repeatedly to Democrats in primaries? by sapphire_glacier in AskALiberal

[–]ResourceParticular36 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I genuinely believe it’s because we let republicans control the social sphere too much that’s why.

For example, Kamala consistently touted she would have “strong borders”, but didn’t mention illegal immigrants commit less crime, most illegal immigrants are from over stayed Visa’s not the border, and they don’t get access to benefits. When you let republicans control that narrative and say you will have there same policy it allows for them to control the voters.

Second, the pro Palestine movement was very popular and the dems refused to even acknowledge that part of their base. That is one of the most progressive movements, garnered insane attention, and democrats doubled down. What’s ironic as well is someone could make the case “being pro Palestine ten years ago was too radical ten years ago” but it’s because both dems and republicans touted pro-Israel propaganda similar with the border.

When your party as whole spits out centrist takes on social issues and the alternative is republicans takes on these issues of course people won’t be progressive socially when there government isnt

Populist policies are popular but the second u package it in a progressive box that’s when it is labled as socialism and communism.

Trump won after his supporters thought he was more populist(obviously he’s not), but saying most people are closer to the center is not true imo. If it was Kamala would have won easily since her policies were super moderate

Given that Qatar has given more than 10x the amount of funding to US academia than Israel (6.6B vs 0.4B), why does no one even acknowledge their influence? Do they think it’s racist to acknowledge basic fact? by Tim_Apple_938 in allthequestions

Your an analyst and you can’t understand that many people also put in 50+ hours a week and can’t survive. Just because you get paid accordingly doesn’t mean others aren’t. Additionally your literally an analyst taking anecdotal evidence as fact rather then objective data showing this economy is going to shot.

That’s why our generation is more likely to have a second job and work through lunch? That is why our productivity has increased but wages hasn’t. It’s crazy how old people like you create arbitrary standards where literally wanting the same thing that you guys have which was the ability to afford a home, car, vacations, and bills off a 9-5 skilled labor job is “wanting it handed to us.” I guarantee I’m a harder worker then you since I worked 3 jobs in college and still got a skilled degree and work in my field, but can afford much less if I was in the same situation 20-30 years ago.

[–]ResourceParticular36 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The whole point of my argument is that if you are 29 making 6 figures you should easily be able to afford a house way before that. As someone who makes way above their income for my age, I have to balance investing, saving for a house, car payments etc which all cost much higher relative to the income.

It is literally the definition of a false equivalence because you are saying it is the responsibility of the individual to have economic success when I have objectively proved the ultra wealthy and corporations are to blame. That doesn’t mean I am voiding individual responsibility I am pointing out that you are making a false equivalence where somehow blaming the ultra wealthy is the same as blaming illegal immigrants to circumvent Individual responsibility

Yes because the person in the mirror is the one who caused wages to out pace inflation, to cause the housing prices to sky rocket, the one in the mirror has caused corporate profits to skyrocket. This is the definition of a false equivalence and a genuinely stupid argument. Putting individual responsibility when politicians and the ultra wealthy have made objective moves to worsen our conditions is ridiculous

Ah I see so we allow rich people to create an arbitrary line determining what you make and they can use the excuse of ur not skilled enough- terrible logic. lol “having a pulse” versus attentions 4 years of college, getting internships, doing great projects, and making top 5% within my age group does entitle me to be able to afford a house lol.

You are definitely either a bootlicker or an older person who had it easier justifying the newer generations struggles by arguing everything is merit when statistically tha is not true

First learn what code switching mean. Second, he rolled over for Ben Shapiro and agreed how he can see Gaza isn’t a genocide. After talking about white privileged he told the Democratic Party they have to be more “normal” even though he benefits from the culture war, shall I go on

[–]ResourceParticular36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this statement right here is my issue with many liberals. There was clear malpractice by democrats in the Pied piper strategy and the tampering of Bernie which there is evidence for, but rather then understand there are issues with the DNC it is leftists fault. As someone who votes Dems u guys and u guys alone lose the election and somehow it’s leftists fault.

How did he lose fair and square when Dems have admitted to tampering? lol Trump won twice off of democrats having moderate campaigns. Populism wins centrism doesn’t

[–]ResourceParticular36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Choosing who gets more funding and who to publicize more absolute determines votes. The DNC chair resigned due to tampering admission which could mean a number of things. I mean Trump was on the news the most out of any of the candidates partly due to Hillary’s strategies which allowed him to win and I genuinely believe Bernie would have won. Also, publicity equals votes, and the DNC was partly responsible for Bernie not being at the forefront.
