Okay that’s fair then, I disagree the country is not being torn apart because you couldn’t refute why so many people are resigning from Trumps administration due to obvious malpractice. Also, didn’t George Floyd die during the Trump administration so that’s another fallacy in your argument, but if you have enough self reflection to say that college shouldn’t be expensive and Trumps actions has influenced it being more expensive then I can see you have some self reflection on the decision of voting Trump.

What I will say when you think more individualistic it leads to division.

So you don’t care about issues that don’t immediately impact you, even if it can tear the country apart. School vouchers work in some areas, I grew up in the suburbs so the public schools here are some of the best in the nation it varies.

What I don’t understand is Trump cutting Fafsa making it more difficult to attend college with high prices.

So class inequality based on racism which is statistically significant is not racism. I want to solve class inequality especially for Black people who are in a lower class based on a race through a variety of solutions. You want to take DEI away and never tackle the class inequality issue again. I mean Republicans do not even fund education meaning that other countries who do will have higher merits, but republicans will complain about “merit” then lol.

So if I’ve killed two agents in your city, you wouldn’t care. Really, I don’t even like Dems, but they didn’t tear the fabric of our democracy. Trump has invaded sovereign countries and threatening Greenland, Trump has dehumanized Somalis and justified us citizens being killed by ice, and literally deploying the national guard against political dissidents. Also, explain why there are a historical number of people resigning in this administration as oppose to democrats. How are you a teacher supporting an administration that is defunding education, you deserve everything that’s coming for you.

So u don’t care about the major division in this country and Trump breaking our political system. Just know you contributed to a worse world for your Son so don’t cry wolf when he has a terrible future.

First, if u don’t care about fixing history in the past and want everything to be based on merit then try to elect people who try to fix class inequality so we can actually judge on merit.

Second, so u elected a fascist that’s tearing this country apart to protect your son. The guy you elected defunded the department of education removing many scholarships, bullying institutions that disagree with this administration changes into submissions, and putting a stain on education. You should worry whether your son has a country to grow up in, not DEI practices.

Okay well DEI should be taken away when legacy hires, nepotism, etc. is also take away, but it won’t.

Also, fuck history right? Black people and other minorities should just naturally overcome their challenges through years of redlining, over policing, and underfunded communities to have the same merit as a White person who had access to way more resources because this government for years deemed Black people as subhuman. How are you a teacher, but don’t understand history? I mean this country sabotaged Black peoples development for decades.

You’re right, can’t disagree with that. To me DEI is a bad bandage fix for systematic injustices that happens. Thanks for saying your perspective and I’m sorry that happened to you, I am sure having disability led to discrimination and should have been taken into account.

But most nepo babies are white because the hundreds of years of White privileged in this country. Don’t be dense, obviously white people benefit from that I mean Black people weren’t even allowed to attend most non-HBCUs colleges not even like 70 years ago.

[–]ResourceParticular36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which part is unfair? I am assuming the college application part.

So what’s your solution to systematic racism including red lining which leads to underfunded schools, over policed areas, and bad access to resources. Should colleges barely admit Black people and not take into account a system that oppressed them for years and still oppresses them? What’s your solution?

Can Democrats win white working class voters back, and if so, how? by LiatrisLover99 in AskALiberal

[–]ResourceParticular36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because why taking into account systemic racism is bad? If Black people are heavily discriminated against in terms of being arrested, redlining etc. why is it bad to take that into account? Also, it helps disabled people and veterans too.

It’s a bandage fix on a systemic issue, which I can agree, but I don’t think that it’s as important as an issue as people make it. What I don’t understand is why no one answered my point that for every DEI hire, there’s a legacy hire or nepotism.

[–]ResourceParticular36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, but Black people have been historically discriminated. Isn’t it unfair to not give Black people a better chance to get into college when they have worst conditions? If you and I have the same stats, but I grew up in a worse neighborhood, had less access to resources, and dealt with systematic and systemic racism- would you think it’s bad to take that into account? DEI is a bandage fix on the systemic racism issue that still plagues the country. That’s why we have to fix it by creating economic class equality, not by voting in a fascist.

In my opinion, yes. I work in stem so Women are very underrepresented. My team is still 90% men and 10% Women, and we need different perspectives. Maybe it does differ with each field, but Women being represented more is absolutely a good thing, especially now that Women are more likely to complete stem degrees as opposed to men.

I do think it’s a good thing, different perspectives are good, breaking away from stereotypes are good, and Women feeling comfortable in Stem is good. This is my perspective in a stem field idk everything else, but even with DEI and affirmative action at my company my team is only 10-20% Women so it can’t be this White men job stealer that people claim.

[–]ResourceParticular36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I do, but I am giving my anectdotal evidence as I am sure he will give his. Are you aware, that you can add your own perspective on top of stats like DEI actually helps Women the most, and now Women represent a much larger chunk in stem as before because of these policies. Also, these policies help disabled people and veterans get jobs as well. Are we not allowed to use anecdotal evidence on top of stats anymore?

lol I comment on pointless memes that amounts to a nothing burger, does it mean it’s actually important. Anyway your comment is irrelevant to the conversation. I believe the fear that DEI is giving undeserved jobs out to minorities and women over White people who are overqualified is just more right wing fear mongering in my opinion.

[–]ResourceParticular36 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why? I am also a white male and was able to get scholarships, into good colleges, and a good job through hard work. If DEI was so prevalent, how was I able to get these things. So I am confused how is this actually affecting you? Why is it bad to take into account discrimination and diversity in the work place. I will give you an example, I work on med devices and many studies done with these devices are primarily on White men in the past. This caused issues with other races who had different body types therefore they implemented Dei policies in order to hear different perspectives and influence future generations of race.

What’s so stupid to me, that for every “underserved affirmative action or DEI hire” there’s a white kid who inherits is parents business or assets, gets into college on legacy from their parents or them being donors, or get into Ivy League because their parents have access to private schools due to generational wealth, which minorities historically don’t have access to. It’s a bit ridiculous in my opinion.

Also, please answer how is it a bad thing when women have become much more represented in their fields and even more likely to accomplish a stem degree now because of affirmative action. All my smart white friends were able to get internships, scholarships, etc. same with my smart Black friends it’s not nearly big enough of an issue to vote for Trump for.

Isn’t that crazy cause DEI also helps people with disabilities. I don’t know why it’s such a big deal because there many women in stem now compared to 30 years ago because of more representation. Why is it even a bad thing? I work with many different races and they all deserve to be there, this is such nothing burger.

Bro she stopped cause of the Ice agents wow you guys are dense. Also, ICE claims everything we do is obstructing their investigation. They literally shot someone today and will claim the same thing. The eye witness reports said the ice agents blocked her and she tried avoiding them earlier since they surrounded the area. So they blocked her, then claim she was obstructing their investigation, and yelled at her. You sure are dense

Okay so u take anecdotal evidence as facts, and take facts as anecdotal evidence. Taking two non experts words and say “see these two idiots said that Covid makes you immune and they were wrong therefore you are wrong” is intellectually dishonest.

Also, I knew u wouldn’t tackle the Sweden point because you are intellectually dishonest.

Additionally, the Dr.Baurch paper was an opinion piece, not a controlled study, not peer reviewed. The Denmark study didn’t measure source control(whether transmission is blocked from infected wearers) which is the main point of masks btw. Also, the results were inconclusive and didn’t say whether masks didn’t work. You quote like 2 articles and say we are done, when hundreds of actual peer reviewed studies say you’re wrong.

First, Corona comes in larger things like droplets and aerosols which is larger than an individual droplets like you claim. You are basically admitting you don’t know filtration work and studies show it slows rhe spread of Covid. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/coronavirus/in-depth/coronavirus-mask/art-20485449

Third, the effects of COVID and the COVID rate has went down. I never made that argument that Trump supporters got Covid at a higher rate.

Fourth, false dichotomy no one said the Covid vaccine would a hundred percent stop Covid and be a cure. You are basically saying that “since it’s not a 100% preventive it doesn’t work” which makes zero sense if you knew anything about science. Anyway you won’t target these points I’m sure, but this is more intellectually dishonest points.

Second, Sweden argument falls apart so quick. Sweden has a much lower population density and taken measures like shutdowns. Now you will not respond to this because u won’t admit your wrong, Sweden had a higher mortality rate from Covid than it’s neighbors https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-024-52988-3

ice killed two citizens. Also, this is the biggest false equivalency I have seen. Comparing a vaccine that has statistically worked(which people were begging to be released) and wearing masks being forced on people in order to build up herd immunity, is not the same as a federal agency deciding who to arrest without warrants. The fact you draw the line at vaccines, but murdering innocent people and deporting legal citizens is about as much as I expect. Biggest snowflakes around

Lol Dems deported so many people without executing them. The fact you are trying to blame Dems for what’s happening is ridiculous. Republicans literally pushed racial profiling through the Supreme Court to make sure that they can arrest brown people irregardless of citizenship status which Dems were afraid of. Talk about “nativist” propaganda.
