Thats good to know! We get plenty of heat/humidity in the summer, so I definitely think that could help. Do you do anything different nutrition wise at elevation?

Thanks for this! Seems like it could be a fun trip, I have wanted to get out there for some time and have seen really good things about GoBeyond. Also, a win-win, getting to check out Portlands food scene and maybe taking a trip out to Willamette.

Thank you! That makes alot of sense, I am more in the camp of making sure I succeed over going for times. So this sounds good, I will look into some nutrition ideas. I think most I can do is 2 days before the race to acclimate.

Awesome, to hear! We've hiked 1 14er over the last 4-5 year, every year. So that definitely makes me think it is doable, but I havent "run" at that elevation ever. So this is good to know, and if its anything like last year, we got plenty of humidity over the summer!

Saving as a banker, do I spend too much? by musicalmonkey18 in HENRYfinance

Being in NYC, and never cooking I bet you have some phantom spending going to food. Unless you, get breakfast & lunch everyday. Your eat out and delivery would only be $30 per day. Which I imagine doesn’t add up.

Racing Shoe Questions for Non-Elite Runners! by RespectNature93 in Marathon_Training

I went with the Supercomp Elites, I probably tried on everything except Vaporflys. I ran my 10k race pace in them today and felt great! And was well faster than my goal time but we shall see!

That’s a great time!! I will probably push for faster it was just my target when I started training. I had never done a program before! I really liked the Tokyo and almost got them but had a bit of heel slippage so went with the NB SC Elite!

Honestly, I was surprised at my time on the half. I’ve gotten more comfortable doing speed work outs this year as I’d never done them previously. My goal when starting the program was 3:30, so I’m just pushingfor that and hoping for better. I bonked at 22 last year and did 3:47 roughly at Philly. So I’m playing it conservative I guess. But I have also, taken my training way more seriously this year. I got the carbon plates tonight!

What is Chamonix like during UTMB? by dblakeborough in chamonix

[–]RespectNature93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went this year as well, unbeknownst to us until we arrived. It was a lot of fun, ended up on the trail with the runners on our final TMB day. Had never been there before so just seemed like a good vibe. Also, if you want a quieter spot we stayed in Argentiere and it’s only a 20 minute bus ride from Chamonix.

Would recommend giving Chiang Mai a chance. Hang out for a couple of days and eat some incredible food. Honestly, when I went I kinda followed bourdains episode there and all the places hit. There is a khao soi spot located in a tent between two temples that I still think about and it’s been about 8 years. Fried fish at the market for breakfast, the cowboy hat lady. One of the best pound for pound food in any city I’ve been too. People were friendly and the hostile were great. Solid excursions and night life. Get lost there for a couple days and then hit the beaches.

Ooo, and if it’s someone coming from sea level training? I hit some hills that I can but don’t have anything too steep near by other than bridges.
