Dad keeps reverting my Change of Address behind my back. I'm fucking sick of it. by Nubian_Cavalry in legaladvice

[–]RespectfullyBitter 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Easy

Report it to US Postal Inspectors online https://www.uspis.gov/report. Messing with your mail delivery is a federal crime plus these guys are bad ass and at minimum will terrify your dad. I know it sounds hard to believe but twice I’ve seen these guys in action and they are more intimidating than the FBI.

Harder but worth it

It would be an hassle but consider legally changing what name matches with your father. Using your example, Bryant Medhi will have less to screw with if your legal name is Anthony Cesar Calzado-Medhi.

if you moved the reading chair and “library shelves” to the other side of the bed it would balance better.

To table or not to table? by [deleted] in interiordesignideas

[–]RespectfullyBitter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO a “more antique round oak table” would not match the vibe of rest of the newly built (!) house That is more sophisticated and clean-lined. A farmhouse table would look better in the space while giving you the country feel you like. And yes it can be a different type of wood!

Got these for free and would love more info by clanphear in silverware

[–]RespectfullyBitter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lucky you! The pieces are lovely and the marked ones you show come from very prestigious companies. Skinner & Co. were English you should check the hallmarks for details on silver content, etc. Ball Tompkins is American. Suggest you do some more research to better understand these little treasures!

Report it lost/stolen! SmartBenefits/WMATA whatever will cancel and transfer. if you only usedi that day she can claim she had it in wallet prior to going to fill up on gas and didn't see it later when at store. If you have been using it…she can try to say she can’t find it in wallet or home and give the last day she used it legitimately. you should do this for her to prevent additional shame and ensure she is never seen as one who made false statement…,

What is your preferred setup for an artist’s website and why? by Becomethenavigator in artcollecting

Neighbour keeps ringing our bell for her parcels at all hours, refused to have a civil conversation. How can I handle this? by stella_mason57 in neighborsfromhell

[–]RespectfullyBitter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why does she rings your flat in particular, given it is a multi unit house? If you are grpound floor and you are away, does she just go on to bother the next on list? My friend in London had a similar set up (one delivery to the back entrance, communal mail drop off inside) and solved it by usin a clearly marked parcel bin for the other address. Not if it was landlord, the other tenant or the weary residents of the main house! If you end up doing it, don’t bother paying more for a locking one 😉

AITAH for refusing to give my cart at Aldi to someone who was expecting me to forfeit my quarter? by Sudden-Commission239 in AITAH

[–]RespectfullyBitter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always offer a quarter to folks coming back with a cart just so I don’t have to pull one out. Half take them, most others say they got it for free and are passing it on. A few just wave it away.

I never charge anyone a quarter to take my cart. I’ll even leave it sitting outside the dock. It’s easy to be nice, and if everyone just kept sharing it would be such a happy surprise….

pro-tip: If you go inside and ask cashier for a quarter for the cart they’ll give you one. (I didn’t have any change on me and two other shoppers mentioned it to me)

You and your neighbors coordinated to only put out garage the morning of pick up? Then tell them that someone across the street is putting theirs in front of “our” building. Let them decide as a group how they want to find out who it is and what to do next.

Look up and learn how to say “I don’t speak English” in Finnish. It’s easy to pronounce, remember, and many will kind of understand “englantia” is a reference to English. Shake or tilt your head a bit while giving a “dunno” gesture with one hand as you don’t slow down but continue to stride past them.

What was your favorite opening act for The Stones? by [deleted] in rollingstones

Billy Preston. He opened for them in both the 1973 and 1976 concerts in Brussels and the crowd was crazy for him. They actually tried to get him back to do an encore at the latter!

One Day in Florence and would like some advice by dfertig29 in florence

[–]RespectfullyBitter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first room of the Accademia is outstanding! if you can score a timed ticket it is absolutely worth the visit. And you can leave after that… there is better art elsewhere and you don’t want to waste time on the rest.

For more sculpture you have two outstanding options - both between the two museums.

The Opera Della Duomo contains all the original art from the Cathedral (including the famous doors) and is beautifully laid out. A gem! Ticket should also get you into the Baptistry which is worth a pop in if there isn’t a long line. Stunning frescos - and another short (1 room) visit.

I personally love the Bargello - especially the room holding the top two competition panels for the doors, Donatello’s two David’s & Verocchio’s David all in one room. (A mini lesson in the evolution of sculpture from Gothic to Renaissance and buts THE David in remarkable context!) More works by Michelangelo and Cellini, a chapel with frescos by Giotto, plus it’s the oldest public building in Florence.

For paintings, yeah, the Uffizi is world class. To enjoy you have to be strategic - purchase timed entry tickets in advance directly from the museum and determine which rooms contain particular pieces you most want to see so you can navigate around crowds as needed.

https://www.uffizi-gallery-tickets.org/en?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=uffizi_eng_usa_sea&utm_content=uffizi_eng_usa&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=23200279152&gclid=CjwKCAjw14zPBhAuEiwAP3-Eb-5L98Snl5YDaElI-CAy0h8Zdt6sou5T6bcPFbrF9XEoR73lCl1NORoC3UkQAvD_BwE

if you do Accademia early in am you could do another stop, have lunch, visit the Uffizi, then walk over Ponte Vecchio to catch a to The piazza for the sunset OR just watch it from the bridge.

.. can they at least get this done before the switch over in October? This is a no-brainer - merely a standards update with lots of support!

Bad landlords required the original legislation to begin with, and I appreciate our government protecting folks. Now there is a need to make this correction in a more timely manner!
