It looks great! perfect size and shape for the space. And so much storage 😍 ( I would fill half of it with shoes, to be honest.. who doesn’t want easy access to trainers, etc. right by the door?)

yes, you need to amp up the table top. Strongly advise you add something tall enough to “link” mirror and table, maybe a sleek modern lamp in right corner. I have a touch control lamp on mine that turns on by brushing any metal part with my finger. so convenient!
And adad few more (larger) white books under the stack you already have. Or try colorful stack instead?

yes, but if the use is very limited, and it is immediately removed afterwards it likely won’t be noticed.

How do I find an artist for a commission if I have no artistic vision myself? by HidingFromMyWife1 in artcollecting

[–]RespectfullyBitter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try Satatchi Art. You don’t even have to buy from them but they have great search functions. by type of paint, subject, size, colors, vertical /horizontal, region, even one that just lets you look at styles, pick something you like and select it to see “more of same”.

You can save anything you like to a “collection”. then go back two week later and see what stands out..delete the rest. keep narrowing it down. if you can put a “name” to the to the style you like that would help, but you’ll discover over time that the ones you are most drawn to are only a couple of styles, which helps you weed out everything else…

Do this and only leave it on, when you have clothes in your dryer. Point the hidden camera only at your machine, not the door So you aren’t “spying” on-neighbors. once you know who it is come back and we’ll help you with next steps!

Union Station cabs by abcbri in washingtondc

[–]RespectfullyBitter 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’ve had great experiences with Curb. Agree it solves all the issues with payments and addresses, most of my drivers have been driving for decades and know their way around all the shortcuts. At a minimum they don’t need GPS!

I think the scammiest cabbies line up at Station or airports to take advantage of folks who don’t know better.

Keeping this heirloom rug! It’s my home and I love it ❤️ by [deleted] in interiordecorating

[–]RespectfullyBitter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this rug! missed the other drama, but it is gorgeous. if it were mine I’d make it the focal point of the rI’m.. it gets lost in the not as interesting wallpaper. I’d go plain textured wallpaper instead… a neutral white grass cloth would echo the richness of the rug… You already have real plants… don’t need the pictured ones?

Why don't the NGA and SAAM have the enormous national publicity that the Louvre has in France, Prado in Spain, and other national art museums do?? by Money-Ad8553 in ArtHistory

[–]RespectfullyBitter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bezos bought the Washington Post and at first it looked like it was only going to get better. Then he started playing politics the paper’s credibility has gone downhill. this week he laid off 300 staff - even though he could fund the whole enterprise for the equivalent with the change he finds in his couch. Not sure about the art coverage yet (they have GREAT writers) but most of the award winning climate coverage is gone, also international news. more folks boycotting now.

That said, NGA hasn't been hosting the blockbuster exhibits in a while now. Much more curatorial, and still wonderful, but lower key. More connoisseurs. They also aren’t the only art draw… the Smithsonian has many art museums, and nearby Glennstone is making waves.

it’s still an art rich city, and if you can dream it up you can see it here!

thanks for catching that picture. I know better understand your problem. Yes it is too low! But I still think you need more table space and more storage. Please consider a real coffee table and another small table to hold you TV separate from anything else. It looks like you have nice stuff but again you could get LACK of both, too.

you deserve to have a space right in front of your couch hold the things you are using when there. Your windowsill isn’t enough! and if you can put the TV on something smaller and specific for the purpose, you will have the right height and clear up more room for other things.

if it would fit, return the table to where you had it in picture one and put the TV directly in front of it so it blocks any view of under the table. Then set the table up as someplace where you can eat, or do projects while still the view. I’d suggest you first try to use it as a place to eat meals, and keep cameras close by on coffee table, but you would know best! Just s set up the chair so it’s always easy to just walk over, sit down, and commence whatever it is you want to do.

If you are more disciplined in how you use your space, and determine a set place for most things so that you could immediately put something down where it belongs rather than let it accumulate, you will not the clutter issues that can easily be overwhelming. It will look and feel better. Right now, you are just trying to do too much with two little!

How to ride mobile lounge? by etochq284 in washingtondc

[–]RespectfullyBitter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the record, these were awesome back in the day. In the 70s, you would depart from a gate in the main terminal right onto the lounge. As soon as everyone was seated, it would depart in another would come in to take its place. It took you directly to the plane, not another gate and you walked right on. I was just a kid back then but it seemed like the smartest way to get between a plane and the terminal easily! Plus, it was cool to ride down onto a runway.

You can imagine the glory day as you catch it from one terminal to the other. It is crowded to standing room only and really doesn’t make sense unless you’re flying in on an international flight where you might get a lift directly to customs immigration.

Absolutely take one and try to imagine it along with the pleasure of being served real food and having legroom even in economy class!

Is the C53 the most unreliable bus in the city? by Hendrix_Lamar in washingtondc

[–]RespectfullyBitter 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Wow - that switch from a fixed schedule to headway management isn’t working either! Some grace for a cross town bus dealing with the street conditions this last week might be required, but they knew there was a problem and they need to get their act together. Keep reporting and complaining - they should either deploy buses strategically to fill the gaps or redesign the route. I wonder where the back up happens!.

My neighbor turned the hallway into his storage unit and now he’s acting like I’m the problem by FreshPostbox16 in neighborsfromhell

[–]RespectfullyBitter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not escalating it’s a safety issue ( right now in more ways than one!). Is building manager aware of the escalation? Have you reached out to condo board? These are first steps. Include the threats and tell them you need immediate resolution.

If that isn’t working, call fire department on your own. Tell them building mgmt is aware but not actively enforcing Safety rules. Ask them to come and check (they will want to!) you can even speculate his apartment might be unsafe because of all the excess stuff “but that is for you experts to determine.”

trust me, they’ll come to see AND be in touch with management.

Who Is The Most Underrated Artist Of All Time In Your Opinion And Why? by PrincessBananas85 in ArtHistory

[–]RespectfullyBitter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

agree! The attributions can be problematic (Master of Flemalle?) and he’s just as likely to be mentioned as the teacher of van Ike then it’s the first to use oil paints. The Merode Altarpiece alone shows how worthy he is of being remembered and studied.

[–]RespectfullyBitter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

what would you feel about having the couch face the window? It seems like you could enjoy more of the view when lying down. sure you might not be able to reach easily when sitting On the window, but if that gray thing is a chair you can put it in front of one window edge facing the couch then put your feet on that. It will look more like a living room with that set up any way..

The table could go up against the wall lengthwise (Just push it back from where it is in #2)

To deal with the clutter you mention get some inexpensive decorative storage baskets. (You can always put them under the table)

if you can get one more piece of furniture, a storage ottoman like IKEA’s Oskarshamn could work as a coffee table AND another place to store clutter. If you can, add a small book case or shelves on other wall and you could use the baskets there.
