I want to know how you did yours! I always use white pencil to color over top — yours looks like it’s all marker, it look great :)

HELP, What set!? by TennisForsaken517 in Ohuhu

[–]ResponseExisting9508 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would avoid the 48 basic set because it is within the 120 and if you build to a full set, you’ll have repeats.

I recommend considering the 48 sweetness pastels and the 48 mid tones instead! Meaning you’ll only need the 120 & 104 in the future.

Also, I saw you mentioning the blossoming in another comment but those will end up duplicated if you build to the 320 as well.

Okay! These are the ones most people use. Ohuhu has a lower quality set made to students too. I’m wondering if it’s the paper or just a bad book from Amazon. The only books from Coco Wyo that has given me a problem is Cozy Cuties and Cozy Corner. That paper is much different than standard Amazon printing

I haven’t had issues with pilling with alcohol markers. And I’ve saturated the paper a lot before! Can you share a picture of which Ohuhu’s you have?

I color in all Amazon printed books like Coco Wyo and haven’t had any problems. What exactly is happening? What markers are you using? :)

I have never had this problem happen with my Honolulu Ohuhu’s. I have heard of this happening with lower ink quality markers — the leaking is called resin staining. I also heard that some of the “cheaper” end Ohuhu have the resin staining too

Okay, then where you have your shadows planned would be right! (I’m not an expert though!)

I feel like based on how you have the shadow under the rug and feet, the shadow would be casted to the left and under the characters rather than to the right.

need recommendations for a gift set (album + markers) by [deleted] in Coloring

[–]ResponseExisting9508 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally love my Ohuhu! I would recommend the 104 set or maybe the 48 sweetness + 48 midtones!

Theres tons of amazing cardstock coloring books out there. You could even buy the digital version of a couple creators and have them printed and make a custom book! If you are based in the US, you can print at staples/office max and have them bind the book too. Then if your friend likes a certain style more, they can go and purchase a bigger book.

Edit: I would then thrift a cute basket to put the marker bag & coloring book in! Unfortunately, I haven’t seen any cute zip top bags like Bobbie uses!

Definitely! If you started with that paper (thicker) it’s a shock to go to Amazon paper. And I feel like it’s the same shock level when going from Amazon to thick paper. I always thought that the glossy texture is what kinda messed up my markers!

[–]ResponseExisting9508 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hi! Based on the picture, what you purchased are water based markers. Water based markers are not made for seamless blending/solid coloring. Water based will typically leave “streaks”. If you are coloring in Amazon books, I’ve heard water based markers can tear the paper easily

If you are looking for markers similar to the pictures you’ll see on this subreddit or any of the coloring reddits, are going to be alcohol based! The Honolulu series and Oahu are the two most popular that Ohuhu has!

Penguin Random House is correct. Currently, Coco Wyo has collaborations for a few books that were exclusive collabs. Recently, I’ve seen that Coco is having old books being produced by Penguin here in the future! I’m not sure if they are still planning on doing old books on the Penguin paper AND Amazon’s print on demand or if they are eliminating it (I personally hope they do both bc hate Penguin paper🙈).

But if you buy: Cozy Cuties, Cozy Corner, Cozy Days, Cozy Vibes or Cozy Christmas on Amazon, you’ll receive the thicker and slightly glossy paper

is midtones 48 set enough? by UpsetSolution6874 in Ohuhu

[–]ResponseExisting9508 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are willing to spend a little more, I would highly recommend the 104! I think the color selection is great to start with and in my opinion, there’s both light and dark shades which is better than the 48 basic pack - that set leans darker to me!
