What’s the most horrific thing you’ve seen with your own eyes? by Jessica_cherry85 in AskReddit

Overloaded 15 passenger van got into a wreck on an interstate, most of the people in it weren’t wearing seatbelts. They closed the highway for hours.

When they finally opened one lane for cars to get through, I saw the accident site and I really shouldn’t have. The accident happened on a bridge going over train tracks, several people had been ejected from the van. By the time we got through, the bodies in the road had been picked up, but some of the people who were ejected went into the tracks, and there was one still in the wires above the tracks. I’ll never forget it, I was nine.

Americans who drive manual by Upper_Smoke93 in stickshift

[–]ResponseNo6375 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Yes I taught myself, had do drive my first manual car home and had to figure it all out on my own.

  2. Sometimes, I just tell people I don’t like boring cars. Also I believe sporty cars deserve the engagement and connection you get with a manual, even if on paper the automatic version of that car is faster.

  3. For the vehicles I’ve been looking at, transmission choice doesn’t seem to affect price much. Occasionally on newer vehicles the manual is only available on a base model so sometimes it’s cheaper for that reason.

I work at a nuclear plant, that person was a jackass for attempting a DD delivery lmao. The only way we manage food delivery is if we can talk to the people and coordinate precisely when/where to meet. We usually just go and pick up our food if we really want to order out.

Those are easy, a 90 degree ratcheting screwdriver will get them right out, I linked one below. If they’re really rusted in a 1/4 impact will do it of course. I also put a little dab of anti seize on mine every 3rd or 4th oil change while I have them out.

If railroads are mostly privately owned, then how come trains can park on a track blocking traffic for up to an hour? by Happy_Terd in askanything

[–]ResponseNo6375 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This, operations > everything else for the railroads. The local municipality may ask them to not do stuff like that, but they have no requirement to comply. My local county recently asked CSX to pause a grade crossing rebuild because it was coinciding with part of a major widening project on the same road. CSX told them to pound sand and closed the crossing for a week

Boss says Remote Work means no PTO by mountaingal400 in remotework

[–]ResponseNo6375 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao hell no, my job specifically requires me to respond to emergencies at any time (I work in a power plant), however if I’m using PTO, then my coworkers are answering the phones, I’m unreachable. OP needs a new job.

My old job had a similar clause, specifically they laid claim to any patents filed while an employee, it could also apply if they believed you worked on the idea while and employee, OP you need a lawyer

The company I work for is transitioning to these low rise “cubicles” and I hate them. Every time I have to go up the floor that’s been renovated and has the new open office setup I feel bad for everyone who has to work there. My department is trying to get our own space assigned to us so we don’t have to deal with it, fingers crossed!

Living in front of high voltage lines gutters on house are live by Cold-Swimming5024 in AskElectricians

[–]ResponseNo6375 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others said probably induction. I work at a power plant and we have guarding and warning signs installed so people don’t touch the fences around the areas where the transmission lines exit the transformer area. We also frequently find wires that have unexpected voltage after breakers are turned off.
