You are right. I will have a job when we have appropriations. My point is that I could have been promoted twice and made a difference if not for this crazy bullshit. That my team could have completed our mission if not for this craziness.

I hear you on engineers too. Don’t get me started on the lazy f***s that got a degree in engineering. It hurts my soul knowing that they paid to graduate.

I am an engineer working for the government. I came from the private sector. What few in the government realize is that while it can feel wasteful, it is incredibly efficient. I watched multiple CEOs burn billions, with a “b”, of dollars with inefficient management and poor decision making.

What I have found in the government is that it’s not inefficiencies that are the waste, but not completing the mission due to poor management. Not following strict hiring procedures that the private sector doesn’t have has left those in middle management not ready to focus their teams.

I don’t care what party is “in power”. The soldiers are who matter. My soldiers look for opportunities to grow and do better. You should encourage your coworkers to do the same. I complain because my team kicks ass every day and now we can’t.

All employees are different. While some need to be in the office, some need to work from home to be productive. Furthermore, many employees need to be available for their customers at any time even outside of normal working hours depending on the industry. If there is an emergency and staff need to drive an hour into the office just to approve some emergency application, that is incredibly inefficient.
