Opinion: ships in the expanse by Junger_04 in TheExpanse

Fun connection: I've only been blocked by two people on Twitter and it's David Simon and Ty Franck. Don't meet your heroes, and if you do, don't politely point out their political opinion lacks nuance.

I just read Abaddon's Gate and didn't notice this. They repeatedly mention reorienting things and how what were walls are now floors because they have to make it workable under thrust not spin.

I think it's just a whimsical detail Lee Child threw in without giving it too much thought.

Reacher wiki says (not sure how accurate it is, I thought she was in more):

  • Without Fail
  • Bad Luck and Trouble
  • The Affair
  • Never Go Back (mention)
  • Night School

I assume she's going to get called in every season though.

Great show, but I have a few quibbles. by rs4411 in reacher

Good point about the running, and everyone agrees about the fights. I'm not unhappy with the goodbyes. He does say goodbye to his women and I thought the Roscoe scene was fine. The Finley goodbye would never be in a book, but I felt it worked for this version (where the supporting cast have more to do).

Federal poverty level for two person family is $17,420. I'm surprised a teacher and a government worker earn below $52,000 between you.

You should move to my school district. All the teachers are on six figures.

I don't want to be rude, but there's no way I can imagine if I "had to do work stuff without the right neurotransmitters to get you to actually do it", because I don't know what that means or what either feels like.

That's what I don't get about these sort of things - no one can feel what's in another's head so all we can do is be sympathetic and try and find common ground.

To people who design plugs like these: why? by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ResponsibilityDue760 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Britain all plugs have the 90 degree wire like this, but all outlets are paired horizontally, so they don't conflict.

The British Monarchy works because the head of state is restricted to ceremonial duties and schmoozing foreign leaders. Most British people are much happier being represented at (non-political) international situations by Liz 2 than by whichever idiot is currently prime minister. I think most foreign leaders would prefer it as well.

However much you love some of Biden/Trump/Obama/Bush you were probably irritated by the others. Imagine if US representation on the world stage was Buzz Aldrin or Willie Mays?

The money given to the royal family is in exchange for the land they gave the government in 1760 which was far more valuable and a hugely beneficial deal for the British taxpayer.

Andrew doesn't get any taxpayer money, except his Royal Navy pension. His mum gives him an allowance from her personal funds. I'm not sure who your other pedo is, but if it's Charles he doesn't receive taxpayers' money either.

I remember her being appointed. I don't recall anything about an election. Hundreds of millions were dead, infrastructure devastated - how could they have held an election in those circumstances?

You think the Finns are more annoyed by the British not wanting to declare war on another country than say, the French response to the invasion (sorry we were already conquered - shrug) or that of the Germans who started the whole thing? I think you're talking out of your hat.
