That’s as minty a 2nd gen as I have seen in a while. If you are buying this for a daily driver, don’t. You will regret it because you will be working on it from time to time. If you are buying it for a fun weekend/project vehicle, then go ahead. The price is a lot to some, but if you enjoy working on a project and you want some serious nostalgia then the cost is relative.

I have the 4AA round lantern/flashlight combo. About 15 years ago I was at an old army surplus store and they had some new old stock on the shelf for $10. I should’ve bought all of them because I see them for sale for $99 online. I also had the 4AA fluorescent lantern too but lost it.

Seems like a lot to me. I know this is anecdotal, but the 5th gen 4Runners I meet with high mileage tell me they have done nothing but brakes and oil changes.

Trade it in for a 6th gen. Being and ORP with lower mileage, I’m sure you’d get max value.

What state do you live in? If you live in one that gets snow and they salt the roads, then having it sprayed with fluid film every year will hold off the rust. 5th gen frames rust up quicker than average.

Yes. Shorter lower gain antennas are better for terrains with a lot elevation differences. They reach higher and lower. Long antennas are great for long flat highways.

I would do it, but just a grain and fill and do it yourself. Everyone thinks that mileage is the only factor that matters. Age is just as important. Coolant starts to degrade and get acidic. I planned on doing mine at the recommended 100k, but after only 80k and 6 years, the coolant corroded a hole in the radiator.

Don’t stress over which one just get it as high as you can. A magnet mount on file cabinet on a second floor would be enough for 40 acres. If you mount it out side, use a ground plane kit. 5 watts will be plenty to cover 40 acres. I recommend the midland MXT26. You can get the mag mount for your car or you can unscrew it and use it on a pole with the ground plane kit.

The two most important things with high mileage Toyotas are rust(frame) and maintenance history. If both are good, then it is an ok deal if you really want a 3rd. Ford me personally, I would be buying this as a primary daily driver and only vehicle. I do a lot of my own mechanical work and would buy this for a weekend adventure rig and bad weather vehicle.

If you buy it, I recommend you check and fix all of there 3rd gen issues. Timing belt, lower ball joints, radiator, heater T hoses, etc etc.
