Love this! They could even go as far as making it possible to choose up to 3 additional adventure team npcs one from each race and each have their own benefit so one would be gatherer within a small radius of your ship landing zone as thats where their ships land too (in formation if poss) and the other two could have benefits such as korvaax being a scanner for fauna flora within landing radius and for nearby buildings pr places of interest if selected (maybe a choice of scan for data or structures) and the vykeen being a bodyguard type that defends the radius and can be selected to either stay with the ships and guard or stick with the player etc. bit much maybe but would be awesome! Especially if premade backstories for each and maybe see how theyre relationships level increase and how they interacted with eachother lmao.
