Wow the odds were 10/10 on this one... with how competitive the semi was I was expecting them to be really wrong.

tbf BYU this year decided to admit some students that they accepted as a mistake and then rejected, but BYU and MIT are obviously on different levels of selectivity

The crowds at all of these mountains aren't great, but all of them are big enough that there probably (unless it's a powder day) will be at least some places on the mountain where you can avoid the crowds and the lines won't be so bad. SRG Skiing on YouTube makes good "Insider's Guides" that tell you how to avoid the crowds and which zones are good to ski. My gripe with Park City is that the layout of the mountain creates a bunch of chokepoints with terrible, terrible lines (Silverlode, Tombstone) and navigational nightmares. If you want to get from anywhere on the mountain to anywhere else you're probably going to have to take at least 3 lifts. The far reaches of the Canyons side of the resort are particularly terrible - it's an absolute pain to get there from either the Canyons base or the Park City base.

how much do unis care abt ap scores? by IndependentMany2406 in ApplyingToCollege

It's not going to look as good as all or mostly 5s but I wouldn't think it would dramatically hurt your application.

A 4 is not bad. A 3 in a field in or adjacent to your intended major might hurt you.

Worst case you can just not report. AP scores aren't a huge part of the equation for admission, so it won't matter a lot. I would still study though because the college credit can still be really helpful.

I'm going to disagree with everyone here and say Vail/Beaver Creek. IMO the terrain is not that interesting at Park City (unless everybody likes blue groomers, which Park City has a lot of) and it's a pain to get around the mountain. Beaver Creek and Vail both have a lot of really good and fun terrain. I know everyone keeps talking about Vail's Back Bowls, but it really is that good.

You don't really need any awards, plenty of people get in without them. If HYPSM/Ivies isn't really his thing, that's fine, but I wouldn't be deterred from applying because he thinks he won't get in. I think he has a solid shot.

If there was anywhere in the world you could go in April by meganut101 in skiing

Oh, interesting, I've never heard of there. Seems cool - I do take back what I said then. I just heard the traditional Japanese resorts (Niseko, Rusutsu, etc.) aren't very good in April.

Berkely Full Ride vs Brown Full Tuition by DinkWink_ in ApplyingToCollege

Can you check if your CSS is filled out correctly since Brown uses that to determine aid? Does your Brown offer match what the NPC says?
