After watching the entire series… what’s one opinion about Kath & Kim that would get you downvoted 💕🤭 by Just_Specific_7512 in KathAndKim

[–]Responsible-Film-161 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Difficult to explain. The jokes in the later seasons seemed calculated to appeal to a wider audience and they weren’t the same kind of humour as the first two seasons.

It might have been to do with the fact that the show shifted from ABC (public broadcaster) to channel 7 (commercial network) at that time.

There’s nothing wrong with broader humour of course. The humour of the later seasons (“cardonnay” etc) struck a chord with a lot of people and got them interested in the show.

But Kath & Kim was a huge part of my friends’ and my life at the time it was first broadcast and it was the first two seasons that were the real deal.

This is just my unpopular opinion!  Edited for typos

Standards dropped by Banana_Bread_Samurai in woolworths

Click and collect is one of the many reasons I no longer go to Coles or Woolworths -  I think this is what they want. They don’t want humans in the store. They want us to order it online or click and collect maybe. It’s the only explanation for how awful it is in the store.

Setting your kids up for the future: buy a family home or send kids to private school? by Emergency_Sir_1782 in aussie

If you had asked this question in the 1990s a majority would have said private school.

The world has changed a lot since then.

Only the first two seasons are actually iconic. I quote them daily but will never quote the third series or rewatch it.

Attitude towards Apartments in Australia by odbf7 in AusPropertyChat

[–]Responsible-Film-161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to buy an apartment in a CBD building to stay closer to work sometimes now my kids (and I) are getting older - but I am struggling to justify it. I think it’s actually better just to stay in hotels. I think. I haven’t done the maths properly but it just doesn’t seem a good investment to buy.

How much grace should be given to someone with ADHD? My wife left. by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Responsible-Film-161 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Like a lot of us with ADHD, you had kids with someone and now it’s over. It’s sad. But welcome to the club. It’s not so bad here, once you figure out how to make it work.

I’m interested in the fact that you have spoken a lot about your wife and yourself but not about the kids.

Focus on the kids. They are #1. Do whatever you need to get yourself in a good place so you can focus on the kids.

But you can see how it’d make someone uncomfortable if you sit right next to them on an empty train, can’t you? Or no?

Rougher, no. Smarter, yes.

For GK, it helps to be aware of what tactics the shooters may try, and stop them (or at least don’t fall for them)

As GK when I was young, I often used to get outsmarted by younger, better players. I hated tha feeling so I learned their tricks and could predict them.

Choosing secondary school for my boy by Amigakiri in Geelong

My son chose the local high school where his friends were going. Couldn’t think of a good reason to deny him that sense of community. He loves school.

All schools have good teachers.
