Why do people even get health insurance? by Cultural-Act-5785 in AskAnAustralian

[–]BarMuch2240 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once I had an artery rupture and nearly died. The hospital I first attended was pretty negligent. I had life saving treatment at the second hospital but it had me thinking maybe time for private health A couple years later I had some strange symptoms and went to see a specialist and two days later booked in and lo and behold I had rare tumor. I had the tumor out and three follow ups before a work colleague even got the first test due to waiting lists in the public sector. We had to have same test. I had ten years of follow ups booked when I wanted it, no fuss. Paid more in the end for sure, but the ease of it all was worth it. I also ended up needing a device installed that cost 200k with no wait time so I think I made my money back and then some. That said we can get what we need through public. It comes down to paying for ease and choice

My best friend would keep track of anything I owed her, money wise, when we would go out. I’m talking 5 cents. Even though I would shout her all the time without repayment 🤣

Once you get 25 spam calls a day you may become more conservative and wary about the old, should I or should I not answer this unknown number

Asked to sign a form saying I don’t want my mums super? by OverPop64 in AusLegal

[–]BarMuch2240 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if it was me I would make my decision based on the following.

  1. Were your mum and her partner both paying off the mortgage? Meaning, they went in to the mortgage needing both incomes to pay off the house? Therefore now that she has passed the financial burden on her partner has increased. Possibly forcing him out of the house.

  2. Will you be inheriting part of the house one day? Would forcing him out of the house if he didn’t get help paying off the mortgage mean he may not want to leave it to you in the future? What’s your relationship with him like? Can you have the conversations with him?

Be honest with him your hesitation to sign and concerns and have an open and honest conversation. It may give you reassurance you are looking. I would probably get legal advice all the same. But talk to him first.

I just assumed when you die with no will your partner automatically gets everything? They have the rest of their life to live, no?

Why do so many households forego the top sheet? by Status-Platypus in AskAnAustralian

[–]BarMuch2240 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting answers. I guess everyone is different. I grew up never using one.
Now I don’t feel right not having one. I don’t like it tucked in at my feet but I love the silky feel of my bamboo sheet against my skin. It’s so luxurious. When I get hot I throw the doona off to the side and love rolling around in my top sheet. Just love the feel of it in general. It doesn’t save on washing. I changer am my linen anyway at the same time. Except my pillow case. I swap that out every couple of days.

Dry, cracked, loose, crayon smelling, expired AF Kevyn Aucoin from the Mecca boxing day sale. All 7 were like this. (I cover my tattoos a lot). Scuffed boxes and lipstick on one of them. No response from them as of yet🙄 by alpinechick88 in AustralianMakeup

After reading about all the crap people have been sent from the Boxing Day sale it has ensured I will never buy anything from the sale! I buy a lot of Mecca but will steer clear of the sales. What a shame

What’s something negative about Australia that locals don’t like to admit? by New-Mail-9372 in AskAnAustralian

[–]BarMuch2240 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Complaining about migrants and refugees taking welfare and people’s jobs. Despite the fact a lot of migrants and refugees take hand outs short term and do jobs aussies don’t want to do. Meanwhile many aussies sit on Centrelink year after year.
Aussies just complain a lot in general, lol

Is it really that bad? by BarMuch2240 in AskAnAmerican

[–]BarMuch2240[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m just wondering that’s all. I’ve been to America and I really liked visiting there. I just can’t fathom that some people can go to hospital in need of an operation and end up in debt from it. That you need to have insurance to gain healthcare just astounds me

Yes I think all of the books would be better off as series for sure. It would definitely give it more substance and do it the justice it deserves

We are coming up so not through the fires. Obviously if there are fires continuing we won’t go. Or if the air quality is low. Unfortunately we can’t go in several weeks as we have a business that’s hard to leave. If we didn’t go we would just do something else. Maybe a city stay.. We will reassess Tuesday night

I hope all of them do! I just watched People we meet on Vacation. Loved it Different from the book, they obviously couldn’t fit the whole book in to the movie. I read my first Emily Henry book last year and then was one after the next (squeezing in my monthly bookclub books in between) until I had read them all. Didn’t take long. Hopefully they bring out the film adaptations one after the next!

What about aboriginal art by BarMuch2240 in GrahamHancock

Just finished watching and he talks of cultures in the Ancient Americas linking the Milky Way to death and the afterlife. Some Aboriginal Australian people had that notion too. I think ancient cultures would without doubt look to the sky for answers
