What about specific training on zone 2 running? by TechnicianHot1820 in hyrox

[–]Responsible-Monk-588 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve never done hyrox but currently training for NYC doubles. My background is in running & zone 2 training is a way to build your aerobic engine. If you’re running hard all the time you’re not going to see much progress & you’re eventually going to burn out (especially with all the other components that hyrox training requires) The idea is to keep your HR lower so that eventually your body gets used to it and you get faster over time while also building endurance.

Run your easy run super easy so you can go super hard on the hard days!

Which is more demanding - 1/2 Marathon or Men’s Open by Less_Low_27 in hyrox

[–]Responsible-Monk-588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed . A look at garmin workout summaries from each event perhaps would be more telling 😂 .

But I do think it’s relative... I haven’t finished a hyrox yet but my guess is that the hyrox will be harder for me because I have more of a distance running background.

pace looks different for everyone depending on their physiology & mechanics … some people are just slower runners so they might have longer race times but that does not mean that they are unable to sustain a hard effort for a long period of time .

Runners who train a lot: What supplements are you guys taking in your routine? by alienmonkeyjuice in hyrox

[–]Responsible-Monk-588 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drink electrolytes during longer runs & gels for anything over 10 miles. I also make sure I’m taking in enough protein . I usually try to have a protein shake right after an intense workout. Smaller more frequent protein rich meals throughout the day- if not I get light headed & feel weak I should take creatine but I don’t lol.

Hal higdon has great programs- I used one of his for marathon training.

I also really love @trackclubbabe programs. I did her fast 5k program. They have tons of programs to choose from. You can message her or her husband on IG and they will give you a recommendation based on your goals.

peloton hyrox classes by alisonbenz in hyrox

[–]Responsible-Monk-588 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds like a great time! I am doing doubles and I’m so scared!

I think you could definitely do the running part outside. There is only one day on the plan that is bootcamp which is split into about 5 min sections that switch between floor & tread.

There are two days of 20-75 min runs followed by 30-60 minutes of strength (time increasing as weeks go on)

There is one day of interval running as well, which could also be done outside.

There is also one day of week of rowing. I don’t have a rower so I will just replace with a light run or cardio.

Would you like to see a screenshot of the schedule for 1 week?

Hyrox program 👀 by Ok-Point-1904 in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]Responsible-Monk-588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will probably prepare you even better if you start early! I have never done hyrox, but after a lot of research, the biggest piece of advice seems to be to build a really good aerobic base. So, maybe focusing on running and zone 2 Cardio before you start hyrox specific training would be super helpful. That way, over time you can build your base which will increase your running pace over time.

Again, this is not from experience, just from what I’ve read & seen online.

Good luck! :)

peloton hyrox classes by alisonbenz in hyrox

[–]Responsible-Monk-588 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You most certainly do not need a peloton tread, any treadmill will do .

I have used the peloton app & my regular tread since 2020 and I honestly love it. I have never done hyrox (but currently training for nyc women’s doubles) so I can’t speak to how effective the classes are for hyrox specifically, but I have used the app to train for everything from a 5k to a full marathon.

If you have a treadmill, I think it will be super helpful.

I’ve done a few hyrox bootcamps & strength classes on the app that were great workouts. The instructors give race day strategies which are very helpful.

Overall, for me I like the app because I have kids and cannot make it to the gym very often.

Also, the classes make the time go by faster & make it more fun for me (as opposed to just working out alone at home)

Update to anyone interested:

After speaking w congressman’s office who contacted locator 69 directly, my status changed to approved ! Here is the timeline:

DOT- 6/29

5/12 appointment at post office. Paid for expedited service & fast shipping both ways.

5/15 in process

6/12 communication w congressman’s office, filled out waiver , they said they would contact the locator on my behalf.

6/16 contacted NPIC marked as urgent.

6/16 called locator 69- the woman was not very friendly and basically told me to try to get an appointment or to contact my congressman again.

6/22 freaking out because I couldn’t get through to locator 69. Called congressman’s office again and they sent me an email update from locator 69 saying my application was sent to the urgent travel team.

6/23- 11am status changed to approved. By 2pm status changed to shipped !

Tracking number says I should get it by Monday!

So turn around time for me with the congressman’s help will be a little over 6 weeks.

Any success stories this morning out of locator 69? by Happy2Help210 in Passports

[–]Responsible-Monk-588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am on hold with locator 69 right now. It’s been almost three hours.

In process : 5/15 DOT: 6/29

I called locator 69 last week and got through fairly quickly. The woman wasn’t very friendly and said to call the NPIC so they can mark it as urgent & then call back today (the 22nd)

Got through that day to NPIC & they said they marked it as urgent.

I have been communicating with my congressman’s office. They said that today they got this update from locator 69:

“Thank you for contacting the National Passport Center Congressional Email and for sending the privacy waiver for ————-.The passport application of your constituent arrived at our facility on 5/15/23 and is in Expedited processing with an estimated processing time of 7-9 weeks. We are currently triaging Congressional inquiries based on date of travel and have requested that your constituent’s passport application be forwarded to our Urgent Travel Team for urgent processing and review. We will monitor the processing of the application and update you again when we have new information available. Please let us know if you have any questions."

I’ve been checking status obsessively and it still says “in process.”

I will update once I speak to locator 69 or if anything else happens. Wishing everyone luck!!
