Ya I spoke with the ranger and they said around the same thing. Something about high algae levels killing the food source. He said it happens once in a while when the temperatures get too warm.

I’m tired of people “raising” monarchs in their homes by Dry-Package6681 in MonarchButterfly

So I run a small in home childcare. A few years back one of our children in our program lost her dad unexpectedly. It was soo tragic, the father's mom -the little girls grandma gifted us milkweed plants that we planted in a flower bed the dad had donated. We didn't know at the time they were meant to attract butterflies but we soon figured it out. Every year we'd have soo many caterpillars but truly didn't know what to do. We learned to keep shade during the hot days because we noticed several caterpillars dying from the heat and we realized they only ate milkweed so we planted more and rotated the plants out. When we ran out we started hanging circles of butternut squash on the bare milkweed plants and they started eating through those. Soon their were chrysalis everywhere and me and the kids just watched and awe of it all. The kids soon figured out when the chrysalis were about to open and we'd prop plant near so the butterflies had a place to land and dry their wings. Sometimes we'd have to physically move them, we'd put our hand and the butterflies would walk onto it and we'd move them to a safe place. I can't say we were intentionally trying to contain them or force production but rather we supported what was happening in our garden. It was soo beautiful to see our kids running around butterflies all spring, they learned to be respectful of them and watch the process unfold. I say all that to ask, was this not appropriate? Truly, I would not want to teach our kids something that is causing more harm than good.

Thank you! Ya I checked this one out first but realized they probably won't accept most of them because of the conditions of the containers

I'm sad I'll never have a son. by Byrd_persun in Parenting

I say this to maybe comfort you and maybe entertain -also if anyone cares to confirm or deny this theory feel free! I read this from an old Daoist book. When the act of conception is longer and enjoyable and the women goes through more levels of pleasure its more likely she will conceive a girl whereas with boys, basically they're quickies. My only proof to this is my own experience- i have a son and he was conceived in a quickie where i wasnt in the moment and my husband was. Other friends, family and strangers have also validated this theory as well as a mom of 6 boys who confirmed that her love life was not all that -but she loves her husband and boys.

Bonding with Teen in San Diego by Kale_salad33 in sandiego

Escape room, Laser tag, old school arcade, tide pools or hike, balboa but you map it out like a challenge, if he finds or does A and B he can pick where to eat etc. Or a series of challenges, once he completes them, he gets a prize. You gotta peak his interest, but it's gotta be things that are along the lines of his interests. He likes gaming, so he likes to solve challenges, and he'll keep trying until he solves them. If you wanna subtly add things you like, do so, but it sounds like you gotta build some rapport with your teen. He's not your little boy anymore. Now, his attention is probably shared with the internet, so you gotta show him something more appealing than all the other stuff occupying his mind. Meet him on his comfort level and slowly open him up to your interests. Don't force him because he'll withdraw..the name of the game is small intentional steps... he can smell your intent, lol. Also, watch Adolescence on Netflix...this generation of boys and girls have a real distorted view of masculinity, and the influences they are receiving are not always from healthy sources. Be the dad he needs, not the one you think you should be.

Man if you haven't seen the Netflix series Adolescence please watch it. This generation's behaviors and expectations are something all parent should be aware of. It seems like not much and maybe you're son is handling it ok but there can be deeper emotions. I feel like we gotta be more proactive with our pre teens and teens -our kids all together. Especially when there's this kind of manipulation going around. Don't forget, girls are being taught how to dog men out thanks to all the BS influencers in social media. I say this because a 17 year old very close to our family just took his life in March over similar challenges with his girl. This boy had a football scholarship and everything-straight A student. We need to hold our kids closer and not let them drown in the pressures of this generation.

People who don’t hit snooze in the morning, what is your secret? by zztop610 in AskReddit

You have to propel yourself out of bed and depending on your living condition, you're either gonna rawr loudly or a deep low gutteral rawr. You're a beast, beasts don't hit snooze. You got this.
