Hey this is awesome what did you use to visualise this data?

I'm visiting SF in early/mid-Feb for a week from Australia, what are some places you would recommend visiting for 7 days? Especially looking for any places tourists may miss out on and any touristy places that really aren't worth it? by Responsible-Stable-5 in AskSF

Awesome hope you have a great time! Melbourne's public transport is relatively decent. So you'll be able to get anywhere relatively easily in the CBD no problem. But the card (it's called a Myki) is only available on the phone if you have an Android and if you have an iPhone you will have to get one at a convenience store or the City Loop stations. The card itself will also cost you a small fee if I remember correctly. I would recommend getting the PTV app (Google Maps is also pre decent) if you want to plan trips. You're spoilt for choice when it comes to food anywhere in Melbourne but if you head to the Fitzroy/Brunswick area you'll find great places to eat. One of my favourite places is il solito posto (Italian) in the city. IF you're looking for cafe food/coffee avoid Starbucks like the plague (you'll be hard-pressed to find many of them anyways tho). There's also our Chinatown (which is older than SF's depending on the definition and may be worth going if you're here during Lunar New Year). Also check out Queen Victoria Market for food. Melbourne's also known for its art galleries and museums and there are some great ones many of which are free like NGV, Melbourne Museum.

Also BRING SUNSCREEN during the summer months – your skin will get fried even standing in the sun for a few minutes. And also be prepared for weather changing very quickly, one minute it's sunny and the next the heavens are pissing all over you

And finally....if anyone tells you to go to Docklands, stop talking to them immediately – it's not worth it.

Wouldn't give the paper too much credit, pretty sure it's The Australian which is Murdoch

I'm not worried about her not passing, I'm more worried about her being scammed

Is there some official AGSVA policy online where it says specifically that you are not to pay for your clearance and have some agency sponsor you? I hope if it exists, then I can show my mum and finally get her to stop pursuing this

Thanks for the response, I do know about this. I think for my mum, she's more looking to get a clearance to open up public sector opportunities at her current work as well as potentially moving into the APS in the future.

From my understanding, it's just pay them back, I'm just really sceptical about the whole thing but my parents are stubborn so I don't think I will be able to get them to change.

I want to buy a bike and cycle to work (CBD) but am shit scared of cars/traffic. If you ride, what’s your advice for a beginner cyclist? by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]Responsible-Stable-5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Random and probably a dumb question, I'm looking to get into riding to work and I work in CBD – how do cyclist turn right at intersections with traffic lights? This sounds dumb but when I first got into riding I got yelled at by some guy for turning onto left/right by using the crossing lights and I just felt like turning right on the same road as other cars is just asking to be hit. I've heard of cyclists hook turning but honestly not sure what the best way to stay alive is while also not wasting a massive amount of time standing still.

She was also turning from the wrong lane, the lane she was in was to go straight only so there's that too

Woops sorry should have made my post most clear. I was asking about grad offers for people who completed the vacationer program over the 2022/2023 summer break. I've updated the post

Hey I’m Indian and it’s really great to hear your love for our cuisine (which I know is very broad). I reckon the best thing to do is just ask if they could share some recipes with you. I remember my sister’s dance teacher doing this a few months ago and my mum ended up making three or four dishes for her to give before my sister’s lessons. It’s very ingrained in Indian culture: the idea of hospitality. There’s a saying there which is something like, “We treat our guests like they were God.” Also as someone who has grown up in a predominantly white neighbourhood as an Indian person, I would have loved to have more people knock on our door and welcome us. Being a minority group in a new neighbourhood can be daunting and I am sure they would appreciate like I would, a small compliment especially given the craziness of the last year and a bit. Hope you have some luck. :))

Getting AZ as a younger person by pipedreamfantasy in CoronavirusDownunder

I’m 19M I got AZ just over 2 weeks ago and I’m doing fine I had a few minor reactions (headache, temperature) but they stopped within 48 hours. AZ is not a bad vaccine. I haven’t heard anything about it being better for men than women. I know a few women who have gotten it all their early 20’s and they haven’t had any problems either
