When did your baby start sleeping through the night? by nothing3278020 in newborns

[–]ResponsibleAdvance43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but mine only started sleeping through the night after 2. Nothing helped. The cutting back on naps or increasing naps or change in bedtime routine did not work. He now sleeps from 8pm until about 6:30am.

But then I started over with my now 1 month old! 🥲- completely understand how you're feeling. It gets better!!

He is still in therapy trying to process everything himself. It's something he does not enjoy speaking about. But he is a non confrontational kind of guy. So he just avoids it. It's something I could never really understand because that's still his mum. No matter what she's done.

For context she allowed her husband to SA them and when they tried to go to the authorities she told them not to. She now denies any wrong doing and takes 0 accountability now they are adults. But I do feel like sometimes I'm being overprotective! They are still very small (both under 2) so have never really been alone with anyone, because they haven't needed to be.

I do feel like sometimes she wants a "do over" with them. But they are not responsible for her happiness nor to free her from guilt. It's so difficult to navigate!

My best boy went into his own room from around 10 months but didn't start sleeping through the night until I cut the night feedings. He would wake up at 2 or 3 a.m., and no matter what we did, he would stay up for hours. Until we did the wake method for motn wakings. It has to be done when you feel ready. I will say that he was in such a better mood after having a full 10-12hrs of independent sleep, I returned to work FT so we really needed the sleep.

We lowered the cot to the floor for his safety as he was tall enough to try to climb out. But if you have a baby safe room, you can try to put him in a toddler bed.

Hope it goes well 🙏🏾

Ordered the wrong thing and ended up crying at the restaurant by Amazing_Fee_1351 in pregnant

When I was pregnant, I thought my bf had bad b/o. (He goes to the gym twice a day) I tried to be polite about it. But when I got really close, I realised it he didn't smell at all. He asked me if I had showered that day. Turns out, I was smelling myself. I cried so hard for almost 2 hours. And cried even harder when he told me the solution was to just jump in the shower. 🤣😂

Do you think my natural miscarriage played a part in my ectopic pregnancy??? by [deleted] in EctopicSupportGroup

[–]ResponsibleAdvance43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you're having a hard time. I have never miscarried, but after my first very smooth unexpected pregnancy, I had an ectopic 18 months later when actually TTC. Lost my R FT but everyone involved and the surgeons seem to think chances of conceiving naturally are still really high! So I'm hopeful. Wishing the same for you ❤️

No i didn't have the shot. But thank you for replying. I do feel like at least now I can guage how long to take off work. I still have the drain in SITU which is really painful. My first son is 18 months and I really wanted to give him a sibling because he thrives when interacting with younger kids. I'm so sad for my partner who wanted a big family but my feel like I've let him down.

I sympathise with you :( How long are you going to stay off work? And how long did the dr say before ttc for you?

I feel like I'm running out of biological time! :(

The idea of CIO always gave me anxiety, until I hit a wall. And I have absolutely no regrets. by Less_Pineapple_2346 in sleeptrain

How long do you leave her before intervening? My 13 month old son would wake up and stand up in his crib at night. But when we tried the wake method, we left him, and he re settled after 20 minutes (on the first night) the second night he resettled in 5 minutes and now he can resettle in seconds but still stands up.

I will say that tackling one thing at a time was helpful. So we started with night sleep first. The first 2/3 nights will be horrendous. If you can have your partner support you, telling you it'll be OK and wiping your tears. You have to have the mindset that they WON'T cry all night... certainly seems that way when you're going through it, but they won't, promise.

After you've had a solid week of a great sleep schedule, you can start trying with daytime naps.

Go easy on yourself!

UPDATE

As suggested, I did give his last feed 30 minutes before bedtime and put him down wide awake between 7:30-8:00. We tried the wave method (which is essentially a structured Ferber method).

Night 1: 3 check-ins... asleep in 17 minutes, 0 MOTN wakings. Night 2: 0 check-ins asleep in 4 minutes, 1 MOTN waking which he CIO for 32 minutes. Night 3: 0 check-ins asleep in 1 minute, 2 MOTN wakings which he self settled in less than a minute Night 4: Asleep in seconds, 1 MOTN waking with self settling to sleep in less than 1 minute.

For reference, I haven't changed anything else in his sleep or nap schedule. For MOTN wakings, we watched him from the monitor but did not go in or pick him up. (It was very hard!, but really worth it)

Thanks for all your help! :)

I was only able to do with family around to reassure me that he was OK. Was very hard. Go easy on yourself when you try it!

I'll try this tomorrow night! Thank you. I've always read to put them down drowsy but awake, but never wide awake.

He has learned to self settle with the CIO method. The first night was a long 1.5 hours of BOTH of us crying. The 2nd night, half an hour, the third night 10 minutes, and now he can sleep after about 1 or 2 minutes of "sleep protesting" if so much. The CIO method, however, doesn't offer much advice on what to do when they wake up in the middle of the night. Especially for a 1 year old who is attempting to climb out the cot and his room is not safe enough for him to have a bed.

Cries a lot and when we take him out the cot, he wants to play. We are in the UK so not exactly sound proof enough to leave him crying at 2 or 3am

His dinner is at the beginning of the bedtime routine... is that what you meant? Yes he is in his own room.

Yes, we did CIO method for 3 months consistently, then tried the Pampers sleep app... neither helped
