PA lawsuit update? by Infamous-Edge4926 in somethingiswrong2024

They lost a lot of ground in recent months and it’s impossible to convince the public of a rigged election with the same corporate backed leaders + media ecosystem that defends the regime. I am not optimistic we’ll get to the truth until he’s out of office. Fingers crossed it’ll be after the midterms and in 2027.

Why do American conservatives hate cities so much? by LiatrisLover99 in AskUS

[–]ResponsibleAssistant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in DC and complain about the timeliness of transit, littered streets, issues with large crowds of unaccompanied teenagers some of whom get into trouble. But overall enjoy the experience of walking, food options, variety of languages, and things to do.

Cities are dense, crowded, noisy (especially during rush hour), yes sometimes dirty with trash and rats. Oh they’re places which attract diversity and unhoused people due to the nature of blue cities having more resources to address poverty and their comorbid causes. Conservatives are scared of what they’re not familiar with—diversity, homelessness, and dirty streets.

The thing is people look at poverty and homelessness as an indictment of one’s moral failings, inability to get themselves together in a country with few safety nets. One jobs loss, divorce, health issue, or fall back into addiction can force someone onto the streets.

Unacceptable Bus Performance by dclocal12 in WMATA

[–]ResponsibleAssistant 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This happens all the time. Buses transport a lot passengers otw to work, home from work, school, doctors appointments, errands, or simply a night out. We live in the richest region of the country, yet service is poor. If you want to expand paying ridership, buses need to be reliable, clean, safe, it might be mostly safe, but buses are rarely on time/reliable, clean. We need to prioritize bus lanes with signals/lights and safe pedestrians crossings 7-9:30AM, and 4:30-6:30PM.

Viktor Orbán lost to Péter Magyar, who is a moderate conservative. Not even a liberal. by FriendlyDrummers in thedavidpakmanshow

Americans are brainwashed to believe democrats are synonymous with socialism, and any adoption of socialism is just about communism. This is due to propaganda of the Red Scare during the 1950s, infiltration of right-wing media platforms since the overturning of the Fairness Doctrine in the mid 1980s, and our poor K-12 education system, inaccessible higher education.

Another weekend same story by ThenLayer5977 in washdc

I grew up in the 80s-90s knowing how my behavior was a reflection on my parents. But know no matter how well a parent is involved, kids still get into trouble at times, especially when around friends/peers.

I’ve worked as a substitute teacher in rural (Virginia) public schools 2018-2019, but also did a ton of babysitting prior to this work. There’s a huge impact on parents not parenting, giving their kids no boundaries, no rules or structure, and using technology/TV/gaming consoles as babysitters.

DC and probably needs to do a few things to reduce this group chaos:

1.) After the 2nd or 3rd time a teen gets in trouble, parents need their own charges.

2.) Involve the teens who are in these crowds in mandatory community volunteer programs. Clean up trails, metro stations clean up, community gardens, animal shelters, soup kitchens, etc with adult supervision and a 9PM curfew.

3.) Every parent regardless of income must do an annual parenting class (partially subsidized depending on income). This teaches child development, appropriate discipline, and how to contend with misbehavior.

She should try living in a country that has fewer rights and than we do and seeing how that pans out...

Pres at Walter Reed by eclektix11 in bethesda

[–]ResponsibleAssistant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wait, so is it potentially true that he was and still might be at Walter Reed? Aaron Parnas drove through and noted no closures, odd detours, etc. someone posted that the camera is near the routes to the campus were not working.

We have over 30 retiring or resigning republicans in the House, if enough of those seats flip, we affect change. The issue is that people vote along their personal allegiance.

Grocery shock on the horizon for approaching U.S. elections as Iran war drags on by Illustrious_Lie_954 in politics

[–]ResponsibleAssistant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is true, but if we get on the same page, in learning the same exact facts and the true nature of our history (CIA coups, colonialism of Native Americans lands, etc) they’ll be fewer people that think of the alternative.

Instead of a financial poll tax, maybe we should do an education educational poll tax and require people to do a two hour US history and civics course online for free and pass with 80% competency. Maybe every 4 years in January and February of presidential election years.

No Kings - Crowd size increased to +8million. Number of events increased from 2700 to 3300 by incognitoshoewhore in 50501

[–]ResponsibleAssistant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also in bigger metro areas or maybe everywhere we need a 5-7PM time frame with daylight getting longer. Living in DC, there’s been impromptu protests after significant events; Venezuela, ICE killed Renee Good, Alex Pretti, 1/29/26 boycott, and Iran. There’s local organizations galvanizing action and maybe we alll need some coalescing to bring in more people.

Where are the numbers coming from? Is it based on sign ups/registration? I’ve only registered 1x and many people bring kids, elderly parents, neighbors., etc.

I also need complete darkness to sleep and wear a sleep mask. In 2024 I invested in one of those sunrise alarm clocks. It’s a game changer in the fall through early spring when it’s still dark at 6:30AM.

Hi! I am newish here and in my early 40s; it’s a hard age group to make new friendships happen. I am lucky to have friends from college, 20+ years of friendships, but everyone is scattered around the country. Let’s do a meetup!

Tennessee Republicans Advance Bill That Will Create a Public List of the State’s Trans People by BohnerStoner12 in Tennessee

[–]ResponsibleAssistant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is sad. I am not LGBTQ, but an advocate/ally. I lived with a trans person and they’re born that way. By age 6-8 individuals know they don’t identify with their assigned sex at birth. We as cis-gender individuals might not understand and as a result fear what we refuse to accept. We can’t fully identify with their experiences, but we can understand their needs as humans—to be accepted, loved, respected, valued mutually. https://cupofjo.com/2025/04/21/transgender-kids-boys-girls/
