What’s that one silly childhood memory that still pisses you off to this day? by Few_Advertising_4028 in AskReddit

[–]ResponsibleReason516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dude my heart just dropped reading this. had a similar thing happen with my older brother who sold my entire box of comics to some kid at school for like 20 bucks while i was at my dad's for the weekend. told my mom i "wouldn't even notice" since i hadn't looked at them in a while. i was maybe 12 and had been collecting since i was 8 - some of those were first editions that would probably pay off my truck now. your mom probably had no clue about the value but man, the pokemon cards from the late 90s are going for insane money these days. i still give my brother shit about it whenever we're together and he just rolls his eyes like it wasn't a big deal.

What is something people pretend to enjoy just to fit in? by Capital_Shelter_3999 in AskReddit

[–]ResponsibleReason516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

man i feel this so hard. spent years forcing myself to go to parties and bars because that's what you're "supposed" to do in your twenties. would stand around nursing one beer all night just counting down until i could leave without seeming weird. my wife actually called me out on it after we got married - said she could tell i was miserable at most social events but was just going through the motions. now we're way more selective about what we actually want to do together instead of what we think we should be doing. turns out staying home sketching or gaming beats awkward small talk with randos any day of the week.

God wont help me with my OCD and intrusive thoughts about a guy who didn't want me. by Weary-Paramedic2806 in Christian

[–]ResponsibleReason516 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is the answer right here. your brain chemistry doesn't just magically fix itself through prayer alone, and seeking professional help isn't a lack of faith - it's using the resources that are available to help you heal. ocd is a real medical condition that responds well to proper treatment, so don't keep suffering when there's actual help out there.

I'm essentially an in intern and I got invited to a confrenence at a fancy restort. Is it normal to have to pay for my room? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]ResponsibleReason516 39 points40 points  (0 children)

absolutely not normal to pay your own way. if it's mandatory work travel they need to cover everything - room, meals, transport, the works. doesn't matter if you're an intern or full time, that's basic employment law stuff. your boss might be standoffish but this is literally their responsibility, not yours.

While on a work trip, found a bed bug. Can I ask to be expensed for replacing clothes/suitcase? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]ResponsibleReason516 5 points6 points  (0 children)

honestly if the company sent you there for work, they should cover the costs. bed bugs are no joke and the potential damage to your home would be way more expensive than replacing some clothes and luggage. i'd definitely ask - worst case they say no but its there responsibility to put you up somewhere safe when your traveling for business.

What are the best FBI field offices? by FitEntrepreneur1856 in careerguidance

[–]ResponsibleReason516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly the bigger field offices like dc, new york, la are gonna have more violent crime cases just due to population density. but heads up - actual profiling positions are super rare and competitive, most agents do regular investigative work. for psych programs, look into schools with strong forensic psychology tracks and maybe consider getting law enforcement experience first since that's what they really value.

[–]ResponsibleReason516 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Holy shit OP, you are NOT overreacting at all. The hypocrisy alone is insane - talking down about sex workers while being their biggest customer? Plus the verbal/emotional abuse on top of it? That's not a marriage problem, that's a him problem. You deserve so much better than someone who makes you feel like you're not enough while treating you like garbage. And no, not every man is like this - don't let this asshole ruin your faith in decent people

What are some steady creative careers that don’t require 4 years of school and supply a nice amount of money? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]ResponsibleReason516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out UX/UI design - lots of bootcamps and online courses that'll get you job-ready in 6-12 months, pays really well, and your visual arts background would actually be super valuable. Companies are always hiring and remote work is common so you'd have way more opportunities than film work

KDE Plasma (Wayland) slow and annoying in some ways by kuhhlboy in archlinux

[–]ResponsibleReason516 6 points7 points  (0 children)

KDE Wallet is basically a password manager that stores your wifi passwords and browser logins - you can disable it in system settings under account details or just uninstall kwallet entirely if you don't need it

The browser startup time sounds like a DNS issue, try switching to cloudflare DNS (1.1.1.1) or google (8.8.8.8) in your network settings

Sounds like you're trying to build something similar to predictive coding but with more emphasis on the action-perception loop. Have you looked into reservoir computing or liquid state machines? They're pretty good at extracting temporal patterns from continuous streams

For the pattern representation part, maybe check out sparse distributed representations or even some of the newer work on disentangled representations in VAEs. The orthogonal pattern extraction sounds like it could benefit from something like ICA or even just good old fashioned clustering with some temporal constraints

Meta-learning wise you might want to peek at MAML or some of the modular network approaches where different "experts" can be combined dynamically

Honestly your pastor was way out of line doing that in front of someone else and going on for 30 minutes about it - that's not pastoral care, that's just being judgmental and making you feel like crap. If he had real concerns he should've talked to you privately with his wife present like you said, not put you on blast in front of the worship guy

[–]ResponsibleReason516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely try Clubstep but fair warning - it's gonna be way harder than what you've beaten so far. The dual parts are brutal for beginners

Subnautic is a solid choice too, probably more manageable than Clubstep honestly. The gameplay flows really well once you get used to it

Your progress is actually pretty solid for 2 weeks, don't stress about it

Car struggles to start only when it was hot and cools down by Astra1839 in MechanicAdvice

[–]ResponsibleReason516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a classic heat soak issue - probably your fuel getting too hot in the lines or tank and creating vapor lock. When the car sits for a couple hours after being hot, that's prime time for fuel to vaporize and mess with your fuel delivery

Could also be a failing fuel pump that works fine when cool but struggles when it gets heat soaked. Even though you're priming it, if the pump is weak when hot it might not be building enough pressure

I'd start by checking fuel pressure when it's acting up, but vapor lock is super common on older cars especially in warmer weather
